I'm putting together my own personal RM site and I'm trying to figure out if I should add an automated RM calculator/e-commerce system or just do a gallery where I give each buyer a quote.
Do buyers actually use those Rights Managed calculators correctly or just fudge the numbers to get the best price? If you have your own site to sell images how do you handle quotes, orders, invoices, etc?

Paulie,
My few RM sales were either direct negotiations, in which I set a price and sent an invoice (used a free sample found in the Internet), plus two in FeaturePics. About the latter, one was sold at a calculated price, above the price I set; the other was at the basic price I set. It is hard indeed to guarantee they did not pick a cheap choice, that would be cheaper than if I had put those same images as RF. Anyway, I think it is almost impossible to guarantee any license terms, even those you negotiate directly.
The obvious advantage of having everything automated is not having to worry if you are away.
Regards,
Adelaide
PS: One of the RM in FP was for commercial goods, Number of Items:1..500, Item Price:< $10. Unless I can have someone on Estonia look for this photo for me, they can be well selling hundreds of prints/postcards/whatever without my knowledge.
