Title: What about Ingram Publishing?
Post by: Oldstocker on October 23, 2009, 18:12
Hello!
I'm newbie on this forum but not newbie in microstock. I white this question here because in any other places I can't find answer.

Picture editor from Ingram Publishing was contacted with me some time ago. He sad that Ingram Publishing is a midstock.
http://www.ingrampublishing.com/ (http://www.ingrampublishing.com/)
He invited me to sell pictures on their stock.

Does anyone know somethink about this stock, work with it?
I spoke with picture editor and I like his words and may be this site is good enough.

Never heard of them.  You should google them to see if they are legitimate, and if you decide to submit read their terms and conditions carefully.

Personally I am always hesitant to upload to someplace I have never heard of without doing a fair amount of research.

Some additional information.
I found them on
www.fotosearch.com (http://www.fotosearch.com)
that is pupular stock search site. They are in a Royalty free photo publishers list on main page. So I think that company is stable enough. But are they friendly to photographers... this is a question.

P.S. Also I found their collection on Alamy:
http://www.alamy.com/contrib-browse.asp?cid=%7BB715E643-5DC8-4056-9C7D-094E3A44C014%7D&name=Ingram+Publishing (http://www.alamy.com/contrib-browse.asp?cid=%7BB715E643-5DC8-4056-9C7D-094E3A44C014%7D&name=Ingram+Publishing)
that is another + for Ingram.

I never signed with them but I found many of my images on this site  ???
2 are on the homepage.

Seems like a third party reseller, but prices for single image are not micro oriented.
I'm going to send them an email to get some info.

Best,
diego

Hi,

Ingram Publishing was founded in 1988, so they have been around for a long time. Don't really know what happened to them after a21 acquired them in 2005 and then the parent company went bankrupt. a21 auctioned off Ingram at that point.

Anyway, Ingram Publishing offers Royalty-Free images by subscription (called PurestockX) and Royalty-Free images by VCD (Ingram Publishing).  They are still operating and they are in the process of updating their PurestockX brand in the coming weeks.

Regards,

Christopher

Are your shots on the homepage only or in the database as well? I did some random searches and only came up with less than a dozen results and sometimes no results for a keyword. I would think if they were a reseller the results would be much larger. I would double check the database to make sure somebody isn't trying to claim your shots as their own. You have some awesome shots so they probably just bought yours to stick on the homepage and make themselves look better than they are .. but ya never know.

They do work with one of the micros.  I was asked by the site not to reveal who but it shouldn't be hard to work it out.

The only two micros that I know of that appoint resellers are Fotolia and Dreamstime. Don't really understand why they would want to keep that a secret. I know at least one other agency that does this (other than Getty), which is Glow Images who offer PantherMedia images as part of their subscription model. Nothing wrong with that. I am sure that other RF subscription offerings do the same. Also, many traditional agencies also have their own microstock brands or resell them via their websites.

anyone know how how to submit to Ingram Publishing?
Hello!
I started this topic and it was long time ago. Since I have many news about Ingram.
Now I can say that Ingram is good midstock and I like to work with them. I help Ingram to find new good authors at this time.
I wrote FAQ about Ingram but it's on Russian language. I have no time to translate it right now. But if it's interesting I will try.
If someone want to work with Ingram and have good portfolio (not beginner on stocks) please send me message and I will give them your contact info.
Or you can try to send them message from their site.
