It's hard to field test equipment like that without somebody noticing.  :)
Ooooh ...  :o

I hope 5D mk III will have better autofocus (and better dynamics). All the rest I can live without.

More interested in the lens. Any have some conjecture, wild or otherwise. 200-400 with BUILT IN tele converter? So what's that make it a 560? I mean nice idea, less opening the lens to dirt and dust every time I want to "go long". One less piece to carry. Hey one less lens to carry?

I'll go out on a limb and say this isn't your f/5.6 either from the size of it. Looks like it could be a f/4 at the lower end and that would be f/5.6 with the TC engaged, BUT maybe the auto focus would work on something other than the 1D series for a change? (300mm f/2.8 with 2x converter on many cameras, other than the 1D#, very jumpy random at best, in effect, loses auto focus.)

Here we go again. Do I sell four of my telephoto lenses to buy this one?  8)

Oh price... guestimate? IS/USM f/2.8 $2669.00 List f/4 and $6000 List (just took me out of the game)

Mode switch 1.4x makes it 280 - 560 That's cool.

I want it Right Now!!!  :D

Gone, 70-200, 35-350, 100-400, 2x TC... just this one and a wide zoom.

(revised to downgrade high expectations)

Will they come out with a lower price model with no built in TC?

Good news I'm safe until next year, because I won't be buying a new lens in August. That's usually Springtime adventure.

Here are the details on the lens…

I am interested in the lens as well to replace my 100-400…but it looks to be pricey.

I've created a mock-up of the spotted camera (http://www.togtech.com/canon-5d-mark-iii-high-res-photo/) using a current 7D and the info from the 'spy shots'

Thanks Leaf!  I’m not sure I like the placement of the on-off switch…and a feature I would have liked to have seen is a dial lock on the mode knob that allows you to lock into M, TV, or AP mode…I already bump it enough.

Interesting placement for the “rate” button as well.

Yeah, I bump that knob quite a bit as well.  All of a sudden I find myself shooting in C3 with some crazy settings. :S

It would make a lot more sense if the the on/off and lock positions were switched. I wonder why the did that? Since it's still a prototype, perhaps it will change (though I doubt it, at this late in the game).

Glad I'm not the only one. It does look like the mode dial has some sort of button in the centre on that earlier shot - maybe I'm imagining things...

I really hope they change the way you switch between manual video and still images too - drives me nuts having to dig into the menu to change over the live view mode between "exposure simulation" and movie mode.

Isn't that the purpose of the lock button? That's why I thought it would make more sense being swapped with on/off. If that's not what 'lock' does, what would it do? Lock all controls? What's the need for that?

I have C1 dedicated for movies -- there are so many changes that have to be made (live view, picture profile, ISO, etc.) I can't imagine doing it any other way.

KB - The on/off button below the dial looks to be the new spot for the on/off button for the  camera (it was previously under the big dial on the right side of the screen).  The 60D has a dial lock where you press to turn the dial…that’s the feature I was hoping for on all new Canon cameras.

At second look on RockStoxx photo…it may be there…I’m hoping!

Thanks, Ed. I did get that, but what I don't get is the purpose of the switch labeled 'lock' at the bottom (where the on/off switch is on the current 5D2).
