Since everyone is abandoning Twitter, I thought I'd try Bluesky. It's very easy, even for a social media hold out like me.

My profile name is:

@fotovoyager.bsky.social

I thought I'd post some of my ongoing photo projects on there, see if there's any point to it (I'm sceptical).

Be interested to see if anyone else is doing the same, let me know what your profile names are so I can have somebody to follow!

some of the artists at https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=8287940  are using BlueSky (and mastodon) with mixed results - there is a cross promotion of each other's work.

also discussion of POD  in general

Thanks for the link.

Is there any evidence that Twitter or Bluesky or Facebook, or... does anything to drive sales to FAA/Pixels or anywhere else? I mean tracked, confirmed, somehow verified. I planted eggplants this year and my illustration sales went up at Adobe, isn't proof or a connection. So "if you post to Twitter, you'll make more sales." isn't enough to convince me.

Has anyone done any sort of testing? Let me say, if I have a Twitter account, I don't know who would be following me, or why. FB I refuse to spam friends. So, someone tell me, how to do this? What's the plan?

Speaking from my own experience, I've never had any print sales through promoting my prints on social media (I mean organic, not paid ads). I've stopped doing any promotion on social media some time ago because it was a waste of time. Usually social media followers are other photographers or just people interested in pretty pictures - they are rarely (or never) interested in buying anything from you.

But having said that, there are apparently people, who successfully sell prints through social media promotion. So maybe you could become one of those :).

some of the posters have rec'd PM from buyers.  my sales have remained the same,  altho some of the sales are from images i've promoted but beware the  post hoc ergo proper hoc fallacy

if nothing else, it's a friendly community for exchanging ideas.  i maintain a list of everyone's social media & websites

Actually I know a couple of people who say they get more sales, when they are participating on social media. Like you, I don't see that for myself. I must not have the goods or I'm not selling my story right.

Good additional benefit.

Maybe I should have asked, do I link to my collections? Post photo of the week. Spam the heck out of Twitter and Bluesky, or how? I just can't imagine that creators are buyers or that someone will just "discover" my images, because they are on some social media group.

Indeed I also sold a few prints after being contacted by buyers via DMs on social media, but without any prior promotion.

all up to you -- various options -
--- there are groups that favorite & comment each other's work on FAA giving them better search position, eg https://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=9058994

your when you post anything it links to your images automatically. you can also add external links to your profile desc - stock sites, website, blog, etc

active folk post one image a day to X (other less often), etc, then retweet other links of those participating - most use #BuyIntoArt #AYearForArt so it's easy to, find others

once you get going, it only takes a small amount of time
