Just watched "We'll Take Manhattan" and "David Bailey: Four Beats to the Bar and No Cheating".  They were shown on BBC4, so probably wont get many viewers.  "We'll Take Manhattan" is being repeated a lot.  It was quite enjoyable, it's amazing how things have changed since the early 60's.  I've always rated David Bailey as a photographer and I've only really seen him as an older man.  It was interesting to see how he started out.

Hi!

Lovely catch!  brillant photographer, one of the all time greats. A bit differant from today though, isnt it.

I recon, most here dont even know who he is, they probably think its a black diamond micro shooter?  :)

best.

Who is this guy anyway?   ;D
Quite good programs I thought. Saw them a week or two back. Liked the "What sort of camera is that?" comment when he was shooting with the SLR. Also the way he was getting the negs "uprezzed" to medium format.
You can imagine can't you "We are sorry that we cannot accept your submission "Jean Shrimpton On Roof In early 1960s New York" as it appears to have been uprezzed"  ;D

There was another good one, "Shooting the Hollywood Stars".  Rankin tried to recreate one of Bailey's photos of Jean Shrimpton.  It was good but it didn't quite have the extra ingredient that the Bailey photo had.
