ideas for photos on big trip

Hi, luckily enough I'm going on a 9 week holiday soon.
About 10 days Japan Tokyo,Takayama,Osaka 
Balance will be in Spain and Portugal - big cities + 3 weeks campervan between Madrid and Lisbon.

Appreciate any comments on "must shoots" in these areas.

I can't tell anything about Japan, but there is a lot to keep you enternained in Spain and Portugal.  Great architecture, good museums. What are your interests?

eh must shots for what exactly.Your photo album or your micro portfolio's.Shoot some very old oriental people eating rice.Get a model release when you pay them!
Tramps/peasants/street urchins/bank robbers or just go for some nice landscapes out of your hotel window.
Just take lots of shots that take your fancy and enjoy your trip .Over and out.

Don't leave all your post editing till you return home.A laptop with some adobe software will allow you to view/delete/edit your photos while you travel.
If you have not subscribed to CS3/4 or Lightroom just try the 30 free day trial.

Japan really isn't the sort of country where you pay the old people and get them to sign model releases, language barrier will probably be a big barrier in this.
