This was broadcast in the UK on the BBC 14th July 22:35pm, well worth a watch if you have the time or download to your iplayer
The comment I found interesting was to shoot it once, then there is nothing to compare it to.

Quite interesting, his photos don't impress me but then I've never understood the culture whereby you call something 'art' and then in the eyes of some it's great.

^^^ I'd agree. In fact I think the images are a lot more interesting now, because of the clothes, cars, etc of the day, than they would probably have been at the time.

I watched this last night - interesting old chap!
He took the oddest subjects, on a camera that looked to the unititiated like someething out of the dark ages!
Well worth a view.

I am sure that 99% of his photos would be rejected by the micros, so he must be doing something right :) A lot of them didn't do much for me but some of them are great. Not in the same league as Cartier Bresson. I liked seeing how quickly he took most of his photos. He certainly lived an interesting life and I am sure that adds to the value of his photos. I often think the "art" people produce doesn't matter, it is the way they sell themselves. Unfortunately, I have never been able to BS about my photos.

Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only so I'll never know.
