Got some good advice here and now use infranview for keywording (latest version is great as it handles title, description & keywords which are handled correctly on all sites). However, if i edit something after keywording, the data is lost. Any way of preventing this (I use paintshop pro)?

photoshop don´t erase the metadata

I use Corel Photopaint and it erases IPTC as well. I contacted them, and many others did on their forums since version X3, now it's X5 but still nothing. It's a pity, since I really like Corel software otherwise.
The only solution I found is to export IPTC data with XnView and then reimport after editing.

Ah, thanks guys. Seeing as I don't do much more than a bit of cloning or a rub of the blur tool these days not worth upgrading the photo editor - will try the export.

I use Xnview too, cool stuff and freeware

Hmm, are you editing a JPEG after keywording and saving as a JPEG again?
I use PSP as well. I edit it TIFF, then save the final file in JPEG. With Exifer I can copy IPTC data from one file to another, so it's easy to deal with a series of images. The only problem with Exifer is when I want to include a keyword in a specific position for relevance, as Exifer only adds to the end of the list. That's when I use Irfanview.

I try to avoid that... but sometimes one forgets to remove a logo or a little more tweaking is required and it's not worth going back to the lossless source - at least for microstock

Even though I shoot JPEG, I always edit in TIFF. It means a bit of extra disk storage, but this way I preserve my edition without compression.
