MR for band shoots

(1/1)

NYTumbleweeds:
Shooting a band soon, in exchange for MR's. I will have each person in the band sign a MR but what if anything do I need for the "band" itself? Has anyone run into problems with only having MR's for the individuals and not another type of release for the band as a whole?

Thanks...

shank_ali:
You should be ok,just clone the band name off the base drum and any other brand name as per the norm with micro- stock images.

As long as you dont have any copyrights in the image as their name in lights, etc.....

tan510jomast:
if the band has a copyright on their name, like Pink Floyd, Genesis. these are actual legal entity. in other word, like a person. you must get the MP or perharps PR.
in case one of the band members quits on the band .
in music busines history, it is not unusual to have members sue each other for using the band's name. eg. Roger Waters vs Pink Floyd.
I would say this is a matter for someone who is qualified in Entertainment business.
The musicians union in your local would better advise you about this, or if they don't know, they can refer you to an Entertainment lawyer.

p.s.
who owns the band's name? not always the one who formed the band.
again, to quote Roger Waters and Pink Floyd.

Thank you for the responses. I am looking into all the points brought up now.
