Title: Nikon D610 (+ 24 - 85 mm f/3.5 - 4.5) - Somebody here using it?
Post by: Beppe Grillo on December 18, 2013, 03:57
I am thinking to buy the new Nikon D610.
Somebody used/tried it here?

And what about the 24-85 mm f/3.5-4.5 sold in Kit?
Is it satisfying for a general use?
Does Lightroom correct well distortion/aberration/vignette/etc… ?

I have the d 600 with that lens.

The lens is fine, and yes, it is fine for general use.
There is no colour abrerration. Vignette and distortion I have not noticed.

I have same D600 with that lens. Aberration appears on my lens beyond f11 but only at endges, easily fixed in ACR. Not noticed any distortion issues and only vignettes when using screw in filters at 28mm -enough that I had to buy a new slimline CPL to avoid vignetting.

Happy with set up, probably 75% of my portfolio shot with it. D610 without the oil spot problems would be nice.

ja, those oilspots in the camera!!!
Guess ill have to clean the sensor. I have not done yet, and they are creeping out from the corners.

I stepped up from a d 200 with a 18-200 vr, and this new set is much better.

But we are talking about the lens. And it is fine for stock, good close range and good sharpness and all that.
And if you run intro problems, you can always downsize.

One thing that annoys me, is that the lenshood is difficult to put on and off, and turn around. But that is a minor thing.

Well, I've got it.
All okay. Any lens aberration, distortion, etc. is corrected in Lightroom.
Great camera!
Thank you Santa!!

The camera is great, the kit lens is OK in the centre, but at the wide end very poor at the edges. LR can help, but it can't fix the distortions at the wide extremes. Fortunately, with 24MP, you can chop off the edges, and still end up with a good size file.
