I have been in various forum with Jesh for a number of years.  One thing has been consistent...no, two things have been consistent with him the entire time..#1...he is a trippy dude and every time I read his posts I feel like I am stoned.  #2...he is true to himself and doesn't seem to give a flying f what others think about him...

That's what makes me wonder if this is almost more of a brilliant marketing/promo scheme. Like he doesn't really expect to get people to buy into these workshops, but the idea that he charges so much (or is worth so much) just adds to the air of mystique about him. He's definitely a trippy dude. His website and general online persona add to that. At the very least he has everyone talking about him today, and you can't buy that sort of publicity.

yep bit like selling a million dollar photo the other week, you must be super-mega-awesome if you charge that much

I've been listening to a Jesh livestream this morning. I get the feeling he really believes his $16k session is worth the money. I'm still not convinced, but if he believes in it and people want to buy it and they believe they're getting a good value, good for them I guess.

He's an interesting dude. Super emo, I think his ideas about the power of photography to save marriages and cut the divorce rate are a little out there. But it seems that some people do believe in what he teaches.

Well, if he can get someone pay him 16k for one day of his work, instead of say 4 people paying him 5k each for 4 days of his work, then good for him!

I believe most people who buy a Ferrari only want to show off they are rich enough to have a Ferrari, it's a matter of status above all, although certainly these famous brands do have an intrinsic quality. Maybe this is the case too?  Although I must confess I had never heard of him.

And yes, an expensive car is never a justifiable purchase for me. I lack the Y chromosome.  ;D

Good post Gostwyck,

I agree with you completely on your perspective of this conversation. I am also surprised people keep spending their time or money which to me are the same thing , by putting him down. I am not going to say his prices are wrong that is his choice. If he get's work then more power to him. The product he offers is only going to survive if people that spend that kind of money feel they got the result they were hoping for. A very good analogy about the Pro golfers. Intellectual property is becoming just about all America is producing these days.

Best,
Jonathan

One on one makes it sound like it is what the name suggests but it's more than that according to his blog.

"regarding the One on One business mastery sessions, on sale for $16,500, all application spaces are presently filled, and we will begin the process of interviewing and assessing interested studios. if spaces remain open after the present applications are reviewed, i'll make another announcement.

it seems that the $16,500 price offer was misunderstood by some to include only a one day meeting, while in actuality, the product is much more extensive. "

Depends on what his workshop is about .. is it about his shooting style (pass) .. or is it about successfully building, branding & marketing a wedding business .. if so you're investment could be justified in a single weekend unless you're just a newb playing pro. So in that respect I don't see anything wrong with a $16K workshop ... On the other hand the workshop itself is more or less an branding strategy in itself. What percentage of you had never heard of him before ??? because you sure as s^%t have now haven't you .. learn from that.

I never heard of him before but now I have and he'd getting a lot of publicity by doing this.
It's a good marketing trick - it looks like these days it's not enough to be just good at what you do, you have to do something outrageous to attract attention to yourself - Charlie Sheen phenomenon...
It might be that there are way too many people on this planet and it's getting so hard to get noticed.

It seems the 'one day' was a misunderstanding:
