Hi all,

I am doing a panorama using raw files.. so i selected 12 files in lightroom and choose edit as panorama in photoshop..and select auto blend option.

But the final panorama is alighted correctly by not blended together, so it is with visible edges.

I tried to use 9 files or 10 files it seems the final panorama will blend together without problem.

I wonder what is the reason? due to limitation of file size?

what you guys do? should i merge the 9 files first and save as tiff files and merge with the rest of two files?

thanks.

It depends is the only honest answer.

I have had a few panoramas where I got the best results doing two automated panoramas - right and left groups - and then I blended the two together manually.

I've had a few where just leaving one image off at one end produced a better automated result and then I tacked on the one that the automated process couldn't quite get right.

I have also done a full automated merge and then layered one of the original files over the middle to deal with incorrect cracks and earthquake like shifts in the middle.

I take things as far as I can with the automated merge and then do the rest by hand. I don't use a panoramic head on my tripod, so possibly the answer would be different for that situation.

it seems to me it is due to some technical problem like the ram or file size which end up the final merge panorama is not blended.

but if i select less files to merge it is blended ok.

how many files can photoshop actually handle for a photomerge?

Visible edges?

It might be due to the zoom. 12 images makes you zoom out more and PS sometime doesn't render things properly if you're zoomed out beyond a certain point. Have you tried zooming in?

Just a guess.

every images are aligned properly but no mask layers on it..even i have selected auto blend.

it seems if i merge more than 10 images photoshop won't blend it.

I assume you mean that when PS completes the photomerge there are 12 layers and there are visible white lines on the final image where the different images join? Flatten the image and the white lines go away. Does for me anyway.

Yes, the lines should blend when you flat the images.

Try that:
Select the upper layer and do "cmd - alt + shift + E", on Mac, or equivalent on PC, it will create a new layer as the result of the underlying ones flattened (without erase the underlying layers).

it seems for some reason all the layers are not blended, as there is no layer mask at all.

i tried 'edit' then 'auto blend' but i encountered scratch disk are full, so maybe it is the reason..i will see how to fix it.
