Title: Panoramas and 360X180 shots
Post by: Rage on May 28, 2016, 08:21
Hey everyone, have been trying to get some panorama shots for stock. Experimenting with android camera and PTGUI and my sony NEX 6

Android : have no clue where my photo spheres are getting saved. Shot a couple and after processing they disappear

Ptgui and sony NEX6 with 16mm kit lens: this needs almost 3 layers of 10 pics each with a top and bottom to work. So almost 35odd shots to get a proper 360X180 shot.

Would love to get some advise on how to go about this

this site will give you shooting info for most wide angle lenses and cameras that are common for spherical panos;
http://www.vrwave.com/panoramic-lens-database/canon/ (http://www.vrwave.com/panoramic-lens-database/canon/)

as for the amount of shots - 30 shots sounds to me like it would be about the minimum you'll need with a 16mm lens on a MFT camera. if you want to shoot less images you need a wider angle lens.

as for getting spheres off your android, mine are here;

device storage > pictures > panoramas >

if you shoot them with google street view, or google camera, they should be the same place.

I don't think there is market for 360x180 (yet) in stock. No site offers a viewer for these kind of images they would probably get rejected if you submit them.

I did see something about making money here but I'm not sure what the deal is.  Will try them when I get going on this later in the year. https://www.360cities.net/ (https://www.360cities.net/)
No idea why the sites aren't on to this, a few do video clips but why not stills?  Looking at these in a viewer is a great experience and when the technology goes mainstream, it should take off.
