Hi,
Getting pretty excited. Wife and I are celebrating our 50th anniversary on a schooner along the coast of Maine. We'll be going in early September. My first thoughts are "wide angel" and "Wet." Anybody done this? I'm looking for all the helpful info I can find.
Thanks,
edited.... Oooops. LOL she ain't wide ... I meant the lens "Wide Angle." :-[ ::)

Congratulations Warren, 50 years? You'll want wide and something to 200mm preferably with a IS.

Congratulations Warren!...wow, 50th anniversary, have fun you guys!
Sorry my boating experience is only around Florida and the Bahamas, too cold up there ;D

I think you will find it dry on the deck of that size vessel, although you may find it wet from rain at that time of year.
You will probably find you are taken ashore in the ships small tender, and that can get wet if the water is a bit rough, so make sure you have some protection for the camera. A ziplock type plastic bag will do.
Hope you have fun, and get plenty of nice pics :)

A wide angel and a wild devil would be a nice match. ;D
- Make sure the voltage matches to recharge batteries.
- Add a laptop to view your images full size (check voltage).
- Salt water spray is very corrosive and the dry salt works like sandpaper on your lens: take plenty of tissue and a gallon of distilled water before you even think of cleaning the lens with cleaner.
- Rent a fish-eye lens.

Uh Oh.... glad she doesn't read this. The "wide angel" is a definite typo but the wet part would got me hurt. LOL
Thanks for the comments. I've started looking at the Canon SD880 pocket camera. There is an underwater housing available but I'm not a diver. The ziplock bag sound more practical.
I'll check too on renting a (some) lenses?
