Wondering if anyone knows anything about this piece of equipment?

My understanding is that it is all you need for time-lapse photography with Canon T2i.

I have a D90 and I bought such a timer of ebay together with a cheap infrared remote control.

A friend of my did a "McGyver" on those two and soldered them together. Now I have a IR-time lapse control device (yeah) for my D90.

Works great.

I'd presume as long as the plug is compatible to your camera (or the remote compatible with the SLR) it should work fine.

Added: I've had it for two years now and it still works great. I never dropped it or anything. Just have to exchange batteries of course.

Looks very similar to the one I bought on EBay for about $20CDN. Works great with my T3i. A friend has one also for his T2i and dealt with a minor glitch. He had to put a small piece of tape around its' mini jack to work properly. Other than that works great for his T2i.

I use one like that. You might not need it if you're willing to try the Magic Lantern firmware. It works great on my 550D. I usually use my Canon G10 for timelapses. There's the CHDK hack for that. The shutter seems to last longer than with DSLR's, I can take photos with my main camera while doing timelapses and there's less noticeable flicker. There is the slightly turning the lens trick with Canon DSLR's but I find it easier to have my G10 setup and ready to go.

I have two, one for the mini plug and one for the Canon three pin plug. Both work all the time and have been for a couple of years. Consider this, if it breaks, you have a cable and a push remote, the timer doesn't matter? Also for that price, cut the cable off, throw it away, who cares?

it might not be that convient but I think you can do time lapse by connecting a laptop to your camera and using the canon software to trigger from the computer at set intervals.
