For those people shooting how soon do you try to end your photo session with a single model? I was thinking an hour is the max before they want to kill me.

Thanks.

You should be able to get 3 to 4 hours out of a model if they are experienced. Friends and family? Maybe 30 minutes to an hour if you are lucky.

When I shoot 1-1 with a model it's usually for two hours.  That's about the point I start to run out of steam.

I'd say it's more about you than the model.  If you have enough ideas you could go for a few hours.  If I am on location and shooting a theme I'll book each model for 3 hours and stagger them to make a 4 hour shoot.  If I was shooting a single model in a studio (something I almost never do) I'd probably book them for 2 hours.

all great replies! I use only my family thus they are ready to kill me after about 30 to 60 minutes thus I have to be fast and keep them happy- ice cream afterwards lol.

Thanks...

A bit OT, but what was the longest microstock shoot you've done with models?

For me, it was 13 hours with 5 models in 4 different rooms.

The sad part is that I never uploaded the vast majority of the images from that shoot! :o

In reference to the original, it depends on how I'm feeling and how many themes I've got set up with them ahead of time.  I like to have well over 100 photos of each theme depending.  Given that with changes in wardrobe and of course breaks, ( I usually have snacks etc for the shoot),  I'd say 2-3 hours.  Longest was 8 hours with 6 models and 2 photographers taking turns shooting.

Shortest time was 45 minutes for one model and one general theme.

13 hours! Wow! That is super professional compared to this mom & pop shop that I run...
