ITs been a crap year with only an increase in Adobe sales by a couple of $100 and some increase in Alamy sales saving it from being the biggest pile of crap since I started in 2013.

123rf bigstock (ha what a joke of a name) depositphotos and dreamstime plus the usual suspects canstock (more like can'tstock) pond5 (more like swamp5) and the aussie rejects Envato sliding down the big porcelain pan like the turds they are.

Shitterstock would have been decent but for the exciting rates they foisted on us the other year.

My 2022 results are generally okay.

On SS, my Covid related bestsellers from 2021 are no longer selling. I was able to replace those sales with new material but, as a result, total downloads were flat compared to 2021.

Despite flat downloads, SS revenue increased by 24% and RPD increased by 23% compared to 2021. This is down to some nice SODs and EL.

AS continued to improve. Downloads were up 14% and revenue was up by 29%. RPD was up by 13%.

Started traveling again now that the pandemic panic is dissipating, so hopeful to have some nice new material to add to my portfolio in 2023.

2022 mtm was sporadic but only 6% less than 2021 and down 14% from 2020

I traveled a lot in the last year but most effort has gone into building my pixify site & increased SocialM presence, including a recent start on mastodon. many fewer submissions haven't affected monthly sales by much (classical ruins & vintage art haven't changed much over the last year)

I have lost about € 1500 compared to the previous year 2021. Not good, but bearable.

I have lost about € 1500 compared to the previous year 2021. Not good, but bearable.

Thanks Wilm , yes this reflects earnings for the four sites I upload to (Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond 5, iS/Getty) and the increase comes from basically significant port growth of primarily videos. For example, Shutterstock was 410 videos in November 2021. Today it is 1200 videos. That kind of relative increase in content (particularly with video clips) will almost certainly see corresponding increase in earnings.

Btw still waiting to see my first sale of anything for 2023!

Given you like to travel and get drone video, have you considered going to Farol da Nazare beach and get aerial footage of the big waves (maybe with surfers) there?

Doing a search on Shutterstock looks like there's quite a number of clips but for the keywords 'Farol da Nazare' there's only 21 clips. I don't know, if I lived in Portugal and the place was not too remote to get to and did a lot of traveling I'd probably be keen to get some aerial shots of this coastline.

It's on my list to go there with the drone...one of the reasons why I invested on a heavier drone is to be able to handle the wind and boy it gets windy there! What does worry me a bit is the saltwater spray from the huge waves getting into the engines and whether it's corrosive. Portugal does indeed have a long and beautiful coastline.

There are some apps that indicate when huge swells are expected which draw in the surfers, I'll be on the lookout when I go back to Portugal next month.

Overall: $3,526, which was down 4% from 2021, but up 2.5% from 2020. High water mark was $6,375 in 2015

IStock: $1,212, up 8% from 2021, up 44% from 2020, but still 24% below all-time high

Shutterstock: $888, down 11% from 2021 and down 11% from 2020. Down 70% from its all-time high in 2016. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Alamy: $435, down 20% from 2021, down 40% from 2020, and down 65% from its all-time high in 2018

Adobe: $565. All-time high (started in 2016). Up 28% compared to 2021, up 70% from 2020

Dreamstime: $301, up 22% from 2021, up 88% from 2020, but 17% below all-time high.

The only "good news" is that things haven't significantly dropped since the "big drop in 2020". I am seeing similar trends.

Sales for me on SS were higher than in 2021 but only because my port is still growing with less than 1000 images & reached level 2 by late summer. Dreamstime DLs suddenly stopped 2 months ago even though I keep uploading,
I joined Depositphotos last May but after a handful of DLs at the start they also stopped and had nothing for 4 months since. Alamy sales suddenly increased last summer (although they coincidently cut the commission then) But it could also be getting over the 1k barrier for photos in my port last yr.
