I've just hit my first payout, after starting on SS just over two months ago. I want to thank everyone here for their amazing support - all my questions have been answered by people here in such a generous way.

In the first month I had about 100 vector images, and in the second about 400. With absolutely no self-promotion I've hit $75 (all 25-a-day subscriptions apart from 5 On-Demand).

I'm interested to know whether you think this is good going, super fast or super slow?

I'm also starting an experiment to compare how my sales do with the help of social networking.  I've started a FB and Twitter presence and am putting up some articles on Squidoo.  I'll report back and let you know how my sales are affected in another 2 months or so.

I'd appreciated it if you could Like my FB page or follow us on twitter @TnTDesignsZA  to help get some momentum going!

Thanks again for the friendly helping hand,
Toni @ TnT Designs Africa

Nice to hear!!!! I think it's very good going!!! I'm way slower. Got accepted in December and made about 140$ (thats in about 6 months). So i'm waaayyy slower. But i have photos, so that makes quite a difference (i always heard illustrations sell better).

And I only have around 300 pics online :(.

Keep up the pace ;)

Congratulations!  I don't do vectors, so can't really provide any insight on where your results fit on the spectrum, but they sound very good to me.

I will look forward to seeing how you do with your social networking efforts.  :)

Here is a new contributor who truly gets it.

She is doing everything right.   Her stuff sells because:

1.  She has a unique style.  Her work is not a commodity.  You might find somewhat similar art on the same topics, but it stands out with a look that can't be easily duplicated.

2.  She is covering marketable topics.  Looks like she actually did her homework before creating and uploading, and it's paying off for her.

3.  She is covering a broad range of topics, so she is not cannibalizing her own sales.

4.  Oh yeah, she's also good.  (This is number 4, because frankly, quality is not a differentiator any more... uniqueness, marketability, and broad scope of subject matter are far more important to generating big sales... quality just gets you in the door.)

Keep up the great work, focusing on the top three points above (#4 seems to come naturally to you) and you'll see higher and higher sales!

Congrats! As far as good or bad performance, I have no idea. Everybody's work preforms a little different. You just have to set your own goals and work towards them.

Hey TnT, nice work!! I think you have done really, really well.I made just $55 in my first two months at SS, albeit with photos and nowhere near 400 images. So I think you should be very happy!

All the best with it :)

Congratulations. I took a look at your portfolio. You have a distinctive style executed very well.
I hope your success continues, it is rare to see anything unique in stock!

Make sure you sign up o the other top agencies if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for your praise!  I've had 100 images on FT for the same length of time, and only 12 downloads ($3).  I've been trying to get IS to look at my application for over 2 months - they keep losing it and "resetting" it and promising to assess it.  Driving me nuts.  Have also got onto DS, but heard so many bad things about them, that I've not published anything yet.  The interface is also vile and off-putting.

The reason I'm not pursuing the others actively, is everyone seems to favour SS, and my experience has vindicated what they're saying.  But perhaps I should persevere...?

They are the single top earner for many independents, but bear mind that could mean 25-35% of total income, with the other 65-75% coming from all the other agencies combined. IStock still accounts for about 25% of my total (apologies for any typos/ bad math today, recovering from dental surgery! but hope that makes sense)
