Title: A call to Arms - Methods to punish bad Agencies
Post by: velocicarpo on May 17, 2012, 09:07
Hi all,

...here another call to arms and some Methods how we can affect the "Bad boys" a bit. I wrote this things earlier in separated threads, so take this as a reminder:

1. Do only submit generic, stocky-bestseller stuff to the "Bad Boys". Do NOT submit niche stuff and rare content to them, but exclusively to the Good ones.
I explained this Idea more detailed here:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/select-what-you-upload-take-measures-towards-greedy-agencies/msg243882/#msg243882 (http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/select-what-you-upload-take-measures-towards-greedy-agencies/msg243882/#msg243882)
This way you affect the attractivity of a Agency to buyers and decrease its long term value without losing too much sales.

2. Remove any links to the Bad Boys from your Website, blog, Signature in Forums.
(Google measures those links and the number of links affects the placement in the search engine - thus their popularity and sales)
3. Step out of any Affiliate program  from theBad Boys and remove all links.
4. Put as many links to the "Good Boys" in your Blog, Website, Signature, Forums etc.

Have Fun ;-)

I had opened several topics on same theme...

My message was, promote only agencies agencies with the best deal for us, and give only old material to "greedy agencies"...
If we all do the same, we can upturn the luck...
Their marketing can not be better of campaign of all of us...

Also, don't remove portfolio from bad agencies... Just stop to upload new content... Put that massage on every place where you can...

But, likely we will sell better future for today's peanuts...

Bad agencies ? they're ALL bad agencies.

The few good ones just don't sell or are quite random.

The only way to get a better payout would be to have an exclusive edited portfolio of 100K images and make a contract where you get at least 50% of every sale.

So, you must reach a level where you act as an agency, as single photographers are now absolutely worth a dime in the stock industry.

"Good" and "Bad" are used in my description as placeholders and are subject to your personal definition.
Pessimism does not lead to anything. The ones who think like that of themselves may continue to cry "I am just a individual and I am worth nothing".

It is your work! It is your life. It is your time and creativity you give to someone else.
And you should be proud of it and not demoralize yourself. Take some responsibility!

I suppose I'm punishing all the agencies by not uploading to any of them any longer. I'm quite content to sit back, check my balances, and submit for payouts from time to time. More time to do more of the shooting I enjoy. My last image upload to microstock was about a year ago.

Relative to agencies, the number one rule to remember....ALWAYS

Agencies are: #1
Contributors are never #1

Sounds ideal.  Wish I could join you.  My daughter is headed off to college, so have to step up my efforts for the next three years.  After that - probably going to collapse from exhaustion ;)

I have quit Crestock yesterday, feels good, they were on my blacklist since the start with their incompetent and long reviews. The lack of sales helped in my decision too. They can keep the few dollars in my account.

I'm not the "stop uploading" type, either I'm in or out, don't have the time to play games. BS & CS are next on my list, no sales.

SS, IS, FT, DT, 123RF, Veer, DP, PM, PD & GL are still in.
