Ok, this is a fun one and really nothing serious...a small description of the "character" of the files I encounter within my Portfolio and how they behave on the sites.

I happen to find....

Rocketeers: Once they appear on site they quickly start to show nice sales. But as fast as they took off they fall into disappearance abruptly after four or five weeks. Mostly they are files showing well known concepts which get lost between competition soon.

The Flying Fish: Once they are online they immediately start to dive to page 50 in the ranking and thus, get forgotten quickly - until one day, miraculously, they jump out of the water and get our attention through sudden and good sales. Their fate depends usually on the mercy of the Ancient God "Bestmatchor"

Infantry: The infantry are mostly niche subjects which never get famous and thus fail to get high volume sales. However, one might wonder about their longevity since they repeat to appear in the sales lists even after many, many years of being online. They give the overall Profile some stability.

Celebrities: Yes. We all struggle to produce as many of them as possible. They start to sell on day one and continue to do so for a looooooong time while giving us the good feeling "Dude, you are a genius Photographer and know what you are doing" .

Hard Workers: The hard workers start very slow but due to their good quality they make their way and rise with time within any database, ignoring their initial position. They are usually of a very good composition and stand out of the crowd.
Commonly they got misinterpreted by "Bestmatchor" first but are able to prove their qualities.

Splash Bombers: One of the more Miraculous phenomenons. They get approved, splash with a loud ruuumps and three sales at the first day into the database and then dive deep into the Database to page 304. Never get a sale again.

Snipers: As soon as we had them on screen we knew that they are winners. Thus it is no surprise that they start selling at a stable rate soon after approval. They know what they are doing and they do it well, even thou they do not reach the Sales volume of the Celebtrities.

Feel free to add your descriptions in this thread  ;)

The Charlatans: They fool you into thinking they're great, they sweet talk the reviewers too. But once they're in, they reveal their true nature and buyers turn their backs on them.

Great collection!  I have another one :
The Rotting Corpses :   images of bad composition, low resolution and awful lighting that got approved in the early days and today, you're really ashamed they are part of your portfolio.  They stay in the database because you have better things to do than clean up your files at 10 agencies.  Once in a while they sell, and you really don't understand there are buyers with such bad taste to pick that image among 20 million better ones.

I think you have defined "CrapStock". (and LCV) Thanks!  ;D

Always a good point, coming up with an idea, then making a image, editing, adding keywords, and fighting to get things accepted is only an introduction to the battle, the bigger and more important challenge is making a sale.

The Riddler
Those crappy photos you uploaded 5 years ago that, for some reason, still sell like hot cakes

Geeez, I have way too much of them, maybe they exist as a result of oversupplied concepts....

The Sasquatch: A rare image that nobody else has taken (or submitted). In my case it would be a Llama doing a cow.  ;D

Oscars.  High artistic value, but low receipts.

Then how should we call the opposite :  the image that everybody has taken, like the handshakes, the woman-with-laptops, the apple-on-white ... ?
