Thanks.  Very timely.  Got my computer back from repair and they uninstalled my old copy of photoshop and the disc won't allow me install it any more times.

Anybody know if a current subscriber can switch to the new price? Perhaps by canceling the service and resubscribing?

If this is a "forever" deal, it would be worth making the switch.

I read it as a one year discount. A friend in my photo club said he canceled his existing account and signed up at this price.

Did I read it right? Worth making the switch to save $2 per month?

I think they meant over a lifetime it would add up.  At least they can get a half a bagel with the savings every month!

What does "for customers of CreativeLive only" mean?  Is that something else you have to pay for?

ONLY considering because I have a new body that isn't supported by Lightroom and the extra step to convert to DNG before I can edit is starting to drive me mad.

Well, no, not if it's just for a few months (1 year subscription). But if it's a "forever" deal, it could add up to a good bit for some people over time.

It clearly says it IS just for one year. Then regular rate.
Offer not open to Educational people.
No idea what Creative Live is (and Google didn't help), which you have to belong to in order to get the deal...they say.....

There's no way it would be a forever deal.  I think they want to get as many people on subscription as possibe, then the prices will go up.  I'm still using elements 12, no idea why most people need anything more than that and a few bits of free sortware?  The money I save goes on lenses, much more usefull to me than software.

I'm disappointed! I'm only saving 6.98 a month now by not using the software, instead of the  8.57 I was saving previously! ;D

I feel for you of course. I just found a way to extend the life of my tooth brushes so I can save an additional $1.50 per month. Braiding used floss into shoelaces is going to help quite a bit too.

Once they've herded everyone onto the subscription plan, what will be the direction of the product?  What motivation will they have to spend big money on R&D to deliver new or improved functionality? What would prevent them from raising the subscription price?  How hard will they tighten the screws, and how could meaningful competition come in and change the picture?

I worked in the software business for 30 years.  New development is very expensive, and major product enhancements never happen unless, and until, the marketing people make the case that the expenditures will absolutely pay off in new or upgrade sales.  And even then, nothing typically happens until the competition is pulling ahead and taking market share; it's classic "you go first".

I know about Capture One.  But unless it can it import an entire LR catalog, including edits, making the switch seems overwhelming.

I just don't see how the subscription plan can NOT ultimately lead to stagnation and overcharging.  It's a classic cash cow situation.

No point in extending the life of hired toothbrushes.  ;D
The floss is quite a good idea! I might start wearing lace up shoes so I can do that!  ;D

In all seriousness, a "special offer" tells me a lot.
If the software was for sale at a one off reasonable price I'd probably buy it, but I won't make monthly payments to use software.
I've been using the alternatives for ten years, and will continue to do so.

So you save $24. Lifetime, no possible way.

Part of me is wondering if this might be new pricing. Remember how long the $9.99/month deal was a "limited time offer".

These limited time offers are limited until the sales of subscriptions are robust enough that the offer no longer needs to be limited.

I got the discount without being a member of CreativeLive unless they mean that Creative live is the part of CC that allows you to access CC from different devices (I was not a CC customer before).

I am thankful for the $24 a year savings -- main lens in for repair, 2 camera bodies broke in 48 hrs that were more expensive to repair than upgrade body, computer breaking (under warranty but MUCH lost time thanks to the people at HP not listening to the return removed applications instruction)...  Seems like this is the year where everything is falling apart!

I would rather have my old Photoshop however.  I have spent all last night, most of this morning and early afternoon trying to fix all the things that HP broke and then had to spend hours on chat with Adobe to fix the installation problems.  At least Adobe help fixed the problem whereas HP made the problems worse!  Whooppee-- I finally had a few minutes to work on an image today!

As I type, Ben Wilmore's Photoshop and Lightroom Creative Cloud Additions in 2015 class is being rebroadcast (free) on Creative Live:

Thank you for mentioning the free rebroadcast.
It is quite useful to see all CC additions in one segment. There are so many, it would be hard to find about them otherwise.

Contact adobe support and get a reset on your activation counter. They need to disable the other installs and you can get another.

It's also a great business model for Adobe. Futuristic.

Indeed it is a brilliant model on their part. And since there is no real competition, we will all be captive to their subscription model.

I'm determined to make CS6 work as long as possible.  I'm allergic to monthly bills.

If you put "brilliant" in quotes I could live with that - toxic, predatory and obnoxious seem fair too. I would be fine with subscriptions if they were an option for those who wanted them.

And someone I know who works for Autodesk says they're going down the same road and have been watching Adobe closely to try and avoid any of their mis-steps. Bad ideas are contagious. Perhaps that's better phrased anti-customer, pro-shareholder ideas...

They could make the subscription free for one year and I still wouldn't sign up - as long as CS6 and LR 6 are working fine I'm not touching that "make Adobe rich" business model. They were terrible about bug fixing before and the tales of those updating to the 2015 CC versions suggests they haven't improved.

And as for enticing me by suggesting I want to do composites on my iPhone...they're delusional. Some manager who doesn't actually use any of the products has drunk the cool aid about "mobile" "cloud" and other buzzwords.
