After Figmas sellout, its Adobe vs. Canva for dominance in design software
Adobes pending deal to buy Figma would remove a key competitor, making the battle to own the modern design software industry a two-horse race between Adobe and Canva.

Figma established itself as the anti-Adobe. The company even has a webpage dedicated to the superiority of Figmas products. Then, CEO Dylan Field sold out to the sweet tune of $20 billion.

He really had no choice. Adobe was visibly struggling after it misread the market and had to make a desperate bid for growth. And when a company backs up a dump truck of cash that size to your doorstep with reportedly no rival suitors around, no less you say yes.

Now, with Figma set to become an autonomous unit within Adobe one that doesnt even report directly to the CEO and Adobe signaling it will seek to move its products onto Figmas cloud platform, all eyes are on Canva as the biggest roadblock to a total Adobe takeover."

I don't know why Adobe should wipe out all competition and make a "total takeover". They are already arrogant enough as industry-standard for designers. They (and all others) should have competition in order to make more effort to create better products or lower prices or create smaller packages of their software and so on. I was reading something about "anti-trust regulations" at links which JoAnn posted yesterday in my "Adobe acquiring Figma" topic and IMO, that's only good way to have "healthy" market competition, which could benefit users instead of suffer because someone has monopol. What's the point if big companies can just buy all competitors they don't like or see them as risk.
But, that's only my opinion, obviously world is functioning differently.
