Looking through my Christmas stock there is quite a lot I'm not happy with in my title and keywords.

Question is, with just a month to go, is it harmful to change those details at this stage or could it actually help? I don't want to wreck what I already have but certainly feel I can improve on them. (These are images with 0 sales so far)

Thanks

It depends how long you have had them online. Apparently after 30 days online, AS keyword order is pretty much locked.

If it is locked, why would they allow you the option to change the title and keywords at all?

Mat told in the past answer to similar question: changing title and keyword after the images are online is always possible but this gives minimal change in search ranking if done after some time, more than 30 days, so probably not worth it

I do, occasionally, add to keywords if I realize I forgot something important. Being found is one of the important elements in licensing your work, and regardless of order, if you don't have the keyword, your image won't show up at all.

Sometimes I realize I need an additional term for the same thing (this doesn't apply for iStock/Getty where everything is reduced to the controlled vocabulary anyway). As an example, years ago I was putting remodeling in for all the home remodeling images and not, initially, renovation when that applied to most of the images as well.

Trying to game the secret sauce of search order seems not to make sense when we have virtually zero data to work with. I do put the important keywords first as that's never wrong on any of the sites.

Keyword order can be changed, the keyword RANK, is somewhat locked. Two different things. Yes and what Jo Ann wrote, adding new words that may have been missed, will help in the search if they are there vs not there. But image rank and keyword rank are pretty well locked.

I have confirmed that as of this moment in time, yes...keyword 1 has slightly more weight than keyword 2, which has more weight than 3 and so on...I'm told this is not something you should obsess on when indexing as the advantage within the top ten over one another is negligible. Just be sure you are putting the most important words in the top ten and you should be good to go.
