http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/how-to-fight-against-lower-and-lower-commisions!/

I was reading this thread and thought of a possible pitch to Google that will help us from the boarder-line thieving top-tier microstock sites.

Like Google images, there could be Google stock. It could list all stock images from individual or collective sellers (of course they can choose their own sale prices). Also like Google images.. the user can change the criteria but it would have additions like RF images etc.

So you can list your own website on Google stock which gives you the control over how much you sell the images for leaving micro agencies out of the picture.

I think many of us have voiced this concept over the last few years. I love the idea of Google serving as the main search engine if they could somehow bundle an e-commerce function and an image delivery system with it. Sort of an ebay style delivery system where we control what, when, and how the images are delivered after we're paid via Paypal or similar. I would think they could take, say, 10% = 20% off the top and do well.

Google might come up with something using AdSense.  A lot of websites and blogs use AdSense, I might be interested in supplying images for a cut of the money they make.

I'm really surprised that there hasn't been more innovation in the microstock market.  All the sites seem to follow what istock and shutterstock came up with years ago and none of them have managed to become more successful.  I'm sure there's lots of ways for us to license our images that are better than the options we have at the moment.  There have been a few innovative sites but they haven't been able to make an impression.  I'm still hoping there are others with better chances.

Problem is adsense doesn't make that much money for advertisers. The ones that are doing well with it have big sites with often automatically generated content that targets specific keywords. For advertisers the adsense program offers far less transparency than any of the microstocks.
