This is just some a hypothetical idea

I received email from SS that they are giving away some limited number of photos to it's buyers, very nice gesture.

What would you think of an agency that would increase contributors royalty due to this COVID-19 situation?

In hard times it's the easiest way to see who really cares about others and who only cares about profit.

Yes, I know we cannot expect that but you know... this is a forum.

Would it automatically mean that you didn't care about others, and only cared about profit, if you weren't that keen on the idea of the agencies decreasing royalties... instead of increasing them?

guys, commission you are getting payed is not your help

it's percent of what agencies already earned from buyer of your work

but now, with people like you devaluating their own work, I completely understand agencies that are cutting commission down

if you think that in this times it's better for few selected people have much more money instead of thousands of people have little more money can you please elaborate it?

No I don't think the agencies should have more money. And as much as it would be nice for agencies to increase their royalty rates... it's never going to happen. Well, it might in very rare instances and for specific reasons, but if you think the agencies are going to reduce their profits just so that you can earn more... you might be waiting quite some time.

That's the point of my reply though... surely you can see the irony in a post about agencies only caring how much money they make, when the whole point of your post was due to you caring about how much money you make.

Why is adobe giving away 2 months of CC for everyone instead of charging double/triple in this times?

or, why is USA gov sending 1000 usd checks to everyone instead of sending billions of usd to few corporations?

Think about it.

lol re: gov'ts giving checks - it's kind of like a casino giving you a "free" $20 credit. because they know they'll get it back :) (aka taxes).
adobe - it's a goodwill gesture that will probably help them in the longrun - because people remember companies that helped them in times of need, and tend to reciprocate in times of abundance.

What SuperPhoto said about the checks. They'll get pretty much all of it back in taxes. As for Adobe... they're not giving away two months of CC for everyone. Somebody discovered that Adobe have retention offers to stop people from giving up on their subscription (which are nothing new) and everybody seems to have decided that this was implemented as a result of the Coronavirus. If they were giving two months free to everyone, then they would just give two months free to everyone... you wouldn't have to almost cancel your account to get it.

What country have 100% taxes?

And I completely agree your point about Adobe stock, good will in bad times, that is what this topic is about! We will remember those agencies!

I don't think the agencies are spending as much on advertising now, so since their expenses are lower, they could funnel it towards contributors. Of course they won't.

What country have 100% taxes?

None... but if I buy a cat from your pet store for $100 then I'm probably paying 10% to the government in sales tax and you're then paying 20% in income taxes. What's left goes to staff, the landlord, in your pocket, energy companies, cat enclosures, cat food etc. All that money I'm paying out might be subject to sales taxes, and everyone you pay the money out to also has to pay some kind of income tax.

Every step, that $100 gets broken down into smaller chunks... and a little slice of it is taken by the government at every interaction. There's so many trillions of these little interactions happening all the time that they get it back sooner rather than later.

You sell enough cats from everyone having more money, then you're expanding the store, hiring more staff etc etc... paying wages that are taxed, buying fixtures and fittings that have sales tax, the company you buy them from pay corporate tax, have to hire more staff that means more tax on the wages, taxes to the suppliers, the suppliers salary taxes, energy costs etc etc... and less social security for the government to pay out so they can spend more money on tanks and fighter jets. The house always wins.

And I completely agree your point about Adobe stock, good will in bad times, that is what this topic is about! We will remember those agencies!

It's not good will in bad times. It existed before the bad times, and it will exist after the bad times (I took advantage of it back in September last year)... and if it was good will in bad times then Adobe would have announced it in some way, shape or form... they wouldn't have to rely on somebody to find it out and then share it for them. It's not a puzzle or a treasure hunt!

However, at this point, Adobe will have seen the that word is spreading and that everybody is taking advantage of this and (as far as I'm aware) they haven't put a stop to it. While that could be considered a gesture of good will, they also know what it would be a bit of a PR nightmare if they took it away. They'll have 'done the math' on keeping it vs. getting rid of it.

Thanks for explanation, I know how economy works. Looks like what you dont understand is for economy to continue to go on, government are "giving" or "returning" those checks too keep that money flowing, only way they can keep 100% of those check is just not giving them to anyone. Do you agree? By returning/giving those check to people they will never get those 1000 usd 100% back to pay wages to staff and administrations. Also, if you dont buy cat from pet store, pet store dont buy them from suppliers, suppliers have no money to spend on coffee etc etc. That's how recession is going starting.

This also existed before? https://petapixel.com/2020/03/27/apple-just-made-final-cut-pro-x-free-for-90-days/

Many things are changing now, and in this times, for governments as well as 99% population is much better not to concentrate money on few companies/corporate/conglomerates profits but to spread to much more people so recession will not impact that hard, because they know if recession or even depression hits that will hit them hard as well later.

So, to explain this simple, in time of incoming recession or even maybe depression it's much healthier to economy for 1000 people to have 1000 USD then 1 person have 1 million USD. That's what I am saying here.

English is not my main language so explanations are maybe not the best, but hope you understand what I mean.
