Title: Is anyone using Moneybookers being charged fees?
Post by: click_click on November 12, 2012, 13:19
EDIT: My original question is posted below the line.

I need to know if anyone here exceeds $2,500 a month getting paid to Moneybookers and if so, are you charged any fees?

I feel like I used up all my focus at the beginning of this year and now just cannot comprehend anything anymore.

As I'm obviously moving my transactions away from Paypal to Moneybookers I was wondering if anyone is using Moneybooker's merchant account?

They list fees for transactions when receiving funds:
https://www.moneybookers.com/ads/merchant-account/us/fees/ (https://www.moneybookers.com/ads/merchant-account/us/fees/)

I know that the stock agencies pay our fees at Paypal using Masspay so we can get the full amount of our royalties but is this also the case for Moneybookers?

Thanks in advance.

Bump. Sorry, but nobody has a merchant account with Moneybookers?

I just use the personal account with them to receive all my funds. I pay, if I remember right, something like 1 € something per transaction to my bank account. I thought about upgrading to merchant but have no own experience.

Got off the phone with them now and I'm being told that the personal account does not have any fees unless I exceed a $2,500 limit per month. After that they MAY apply fees to my account or/and switch it over to a Merchant Account.

I know that many here use Moneybookers but this is really throwing me off.

I exceed the $2,500 a month and the representative told me that at their discretion, they will either leave it at a personal account or just start applying fees to my royalty payments (and notify me of course).

However, I have a Premier account at Paypal and never had any issues with monthly limits or anything.

My head is spinning.

And, according to the Merchant Account rep, ebay accounts have to be tied to merchant accounts as well, although the first rep I talked to said I can link my ebay account to a personal Skrill account.

These guys are confusing the heII out of me.

I had a couple of times the case of transferring more than 2500 a month and, if I remember right, there was some sort of "evaluation" years ago. Basically, they asked me if I run a store or sell goods etc. I explained them the situation and they left my account as "personal".

I think I would not use the Merchant account as such. As I saw they would charge you 5% on incoming Micropayments which is much too much. On the other side, if you want to use it as a real merchant, charging Cards on your site e.g., it is pretty cheap since card charges are free. Depends on what you use it for I guess. If you just want to lower the volume of Paypal because of the 1099 situation why not transfer lower amounts and balance the total volume between the two? (or three: payoneer).

Would you mind sharing if you are forced to pay fees for microstock payments into your merchant account?

I have been using Moneybookers for the past months on a personal account till they changed me a few weeks ago to a merchant account, after asking for Skrill VIP status. The last received transfer from Istock had a hefty fee. I closed my account. If you have a personal account you better stay low profile to keep you account with the low fees. With the merchant account it is not worth it with much better alternatives from Paypal and Payoneer.
