I don't see anyone publishing April sales apart from specifically SS ones, so I'll jump in.
iS: compared to March '13: dls +18%, $ +8%
Compared to April 2013: dls -12%, $$ +5%.
No ELs in April and no GI sales in March. Still >20% of my e+ files to be ported over.
Alamy: 5 sales, none really small amounts.
FAA: 1 framed print, second smallest size.
Overall: "could have been better; has been worse".
-
Oh! Derrr... I did publish mine in that other thread. Didn't realise it was a Shutterstock thread at the time. Re-posting here:
My month quite surprised me when I sat down and looked at the figures... It hadn't felt that good at the time, but ultimately it turned out to be quite close to my BME...
SS came in first, as usual.
iS came in second, but with about a third of the income of SS.
All agencies showed increases on previous month except for FT, CanStockPhoto, and Veer.
All showed increases on previous year except for CanStockPhoto.
-
I will post some results later today, but I was hitting a few BME's across the board.
Had a good overall month, might be my BME overall.
April was my 13th full month in the business, or the first full month after one full year so now I can post YoY results as well.
-
I'm an iS exclusive here. :) April is BME for the last 6 months I've been doing this.
Downloads: +34% from previous month
$$: +80% from previous month*
Portfolio growth: +10%
*Turned on exclusivity mid May, which is why the large jump.
Growth has begun to decelerate, as expected. Which is fine -- I'll be content if every month was like this. :D

Let's see, royalties down 96% from March, lol.

I am glad you can find a bit of humor in that, but I do hope you get back on track soon.
How are you doing on the agencies you are with now?

Not as well as I had hoped. Stocksy, at least, leads the pack.

top right Sean! SS yep! time to open the doors to independence ;D
-
Best month of the year and 5th best ever.
-
I had a BMY also, but that isn't saying much in my case. Still well short of the good-old days a couple of years ago ;)
ETA: I was 12% up on last month, and in a staggering turn of events, 3% up on last year. This is the first time I have had a better month than the prior year in a very long time.
I hope this is a trend reversing. With massive one day sales at both SS and BigStock, though, I will have to wait until next month to see if it is just an anomaly.
-
Had a BME at SS due to some ELs, DT recovered from the slump it had in the previous month and 123rf also showed signs of life. FT was good income wise, but DLs kept falling. Overall April was a good month though - best so far this year.
-
With all the Symbiostock interest, it will be interesting to see if the Self-Hosted option can get enough votes to eventually make it into the poll numbers.
-
I had a BME with direct sales, 65 dollar, but not through Symbiostock. They found me through FAA and contacted me for the digital version.
-
Been uploading since March of 2008.
April 2013 was my best month ever because of a 3rd BME on Shutterstock and a BME on Alamy.
-
BMY here too, and 2% up from 2012, but I don't have any hopes that this will continue, because the excellent sales were due to exceptional situations :
- BMY at SS : because I had an image in the homepage lightbox at SS for one week
- BMY at DST : because I sold the rights of an image at $ 600 ($ 300 commission)
- BMY at BS : because of that one day with 4 EL's at once
without those lucky hits, I would have had overall -10% compared to last year, mainly caused by Fotolia, GLO and Rodeo.
-
Congratulations to everyone with a BMY(E)!
My April 2013 was worse than my December 2012 - and that is saying a lot. Especially SS is below expectations three months in a row now... :P
-
Sort of comforting I'm not the only one with a really poor April worst since September last year despite putting lots of new images up. Hope its a blip!!!
-
hmm…
I missed it…
Where is the April poll?
-
BME thanks to netting $900 from two sales on my own site.
SS: Up a tad from last month & up 53% from April '12, but I'm concerned because ELs made the difference. My lowest number of dls in a long time (50 with 158 images) & though some of my best-sellers are still on pages 1 and 2 for important keywords, others have dropped to pages 3 or 4. Anxious to see how things go in May.
DT : Down 40% from March (BME) but still 15% above my average & up 20% from last April.
The rest (iS, Alamy, fotolia) were pretty average, and surprisingly, I had sales on Bigstock for the third month in a row.
-
BME thanks to netting $900 from two sales on my own site.
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.
-
BME at SS and FT.
everyone else was within average, even Canstock at 0.00 lol
-
BME at DT - came in at #2, but might drop to #3 after iS PP sales come in next month. Above average at CanStock and Veer. All others below average.
SS still #1 but off for $$$ due to no ELs - worst month there since last August, although # of DLs was good. iS had the worst month in a year for regular sales, but a BME for PP sales in March, many at higher values - none at $6 or $12 though, whew. RPD at BS and 123 dropping with the introduction of subs and royalty cuts, respectively.
April has usually been a slow month and last year was the worst. This year overall was up 78% over last April - hope it is the worst month this year as well.
-
April was my worst month in a long time...coming off a decent March and a strong February(BME)...oh well.
-
April was excellent for me! Up 31%, mostly because of Zazzle.
Best 4: Zazzle, Shutterstock, DepositPhotos, Bigstock

FT - very good month +45% compared with April 2012 ; +10% compared with march 2013
DT - good month +3% compared with April 2012 ; -16% compared with March 2013
123RF - very good month, BME regarding downloads and second BME in revenue +25% compared with April 2012 ; +2% compared with march 2013
Can stock - BME, way up in the last month , good sales and revenue + 500% compared with 2012, +100% compared with march 2013
DP and Bigstock insignificant to make any statistics...

Slightly disappointing 2% down on April 2012. I had hoped for a rebound from the disappointing March but it didn't happen.
IS were 28% down, DT and FT were similar. Fortunately SS were 44% up so made up almost all the ground lost elsewhere. SS, together with BS, are now generating 53% of my microstock income and appear to be getting stronger every month to the detriment of their competitors. Worrying for the future stability of our industry.

Wow! That's a lot. How much of that is BS?

BS are usually 3-4% of my total. SS was at 49% last month.

Snap - SS are 50% give or take some loose change - and increasing!
-
Best month for over a year. BME - SS, Dep, BS, 123rf. Fotolia best month since April 2011,

I think I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum on this. They were only 16% for me. That was still good enough to snag 2nd place though.

Yeah, I never have done amazingly on SS either. They are consistently under 30% of my earnings. It's still enough to put them in first place, but only just. My income seems to be pretty spread out across the sites I contribute to.
-
needed just 31 cent to beat out march overall. I started this year with a goal of making a payout somewhere. Maybe i'll be able to do that.
-
A good month for me. Not the best ever, but pretty close. Total was $2176, helped by some footage sales of the skyline in Boston (around the time of the bombing), which sold for $90+. Pond5 continues to be good - one of several sites over $100, including 123RF, Dreamstime, Fotolia, Alamy, and, of course iStock.
Here are the headline graphs. More details as normal on my blog.

After a slow start it turned out to be a good month. A sixty dollar OD on SS, an EL on Veer, Fotolia was slower than usual, Dreamstime was normal, a surprise sale on Alamy with the rest of the field full of hope for better times.
47.0% Shutterstock
16.1% Veer
15.5 % Fotolia
06.3 % Dreamstime
05.9 % Alamy
03.0 % 123RF
02.7 % Bigstock
02.2 % Canstock
01.3 % DepositPhotos
00.0 % GLStockimages
00.0 % Stockfresh

Good month for me too! First sales from the personal site and BME at Dreamstime. SS a little bit less than March. Very worried about Alamy and Pond5, no sales this month.

Overall BME.
Shutterstock - BME
iStock - best month since Oct
DT - stable, decent month
123rf - still relatively new, nothing worth talking about
Shutterstock is really taking off, with my 4th BME in a row, and now about 30-50% more than iS, and since I just hit the $3000 mark I should get a bump this month for the higher percentage rate.
3 of my best 4 months overall were this year. Trends are looking up!
-
Shutterstock was a bit slower than expected, but iStock sales were strong. Overall things have been moving along acceptably, but I'm probably down 15% from my best months.
