Illustrators and Photogs like Yuri are the ones making the 2500 plus a month and probably some of the Red Carpet shooters in California.

Even the latter probably aren't making that much in micro - especially through one agency. I doubt EdStock makes that much and 'he' is many.

Yuri and a few other image factories, and a few iStock exclusives (probably)

My question is, how many images on average are people holding in catalogs.

Its obviously easier to take small profits over large amounts of purchases, and even better to make bigger sales off images, but on average for those that are living off their stock (i have to do other work), how many (500, 2000, 5000, 10000+) images do you have in your catalog.

I am definitely well outside the top 100 microstockers and I have broken the $2500 mark on SS twice so far this year. I would hope to break it again a couple of times before January, and with any luck more regularly next year.

IS+TS earnings have never quite made it over $2000 and are on the slide anyway so doubt I will ever make it over the mark on IS/TS as an independent. Given that I am not in the premiere league though I imagine there are a good few that also make $2500 on IS as independents.

My guess is that there's at least 200 non-exclusives making more than $2500 a month. Obviously this grows exponentially so the $10k+ group is less than 10 people.

I heard somewhere or read that the top six or seven hundered according to the old IS chart were earning in the region of 1500-2000 dollars a month, independants that is. Since then SS have gone fast forward so wouldnt it be quite easy for them to earn 2500 dollars today at SS?  or have I got my maths totally wrong.

I was in the  of the top 500 and have never earnt that much a month there.  These days not even close. In fact my highest ever earnings have been at DT and Fotolia. I think with the higher prices there are lots of exclusives earning that a month nowadays.

Sure, could definitely be more. I'm just saying I would be very surprised if that number was smaller than 200 people.
