The most interresting quote from your blog is this one:

"I’ve also given away earnings info on some of my best-sellers which will directly lead to those images reducing their value"

A lesson to be remembered.

Nice that Alamy's coming good for you (to some extent)

Indeed! Always a battle with myself to decide how much info to give away.

Received a nice donation today from a follower (first one ever), which should help to mitigate any loss.

Thank you for sharing.

If it helps, if you want your 123rf pending forever files to be reviewed you can try and use this form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf15E6PdOgJ7Z7bCG9o3lUBmamWhJYDaklDOs7QsoKn68VOBA/viewform

It worked for me.

Wow, amazing insights. Especially to sb who sold excactly one clip so far  ;D
Thanks a lot for sharing!

EDIT: I was wondering if you have any idea where your footage is being used? Like actual examples of commercials or other kinds of productions...? I'm so unsuccesful with this whole stock footage thing, I feel I need to see stock footage "in practice" to understand it better  ;) Having hard times to find commercials where stock footage has been put to use. There is a "What People Are Saying" video series on Pond5 with credentials of two buyers but that doesn't really help.

((Btw: This edit is made with the permission of Brazilnut. Messaged him before I wrote this, don't wanna hijack his thread))

EDIT2: Oh my. https://castlewoodstudios.com/professionally-produced-videos/commercials-with-stock-footage/ (https://castlewoodstudios.com/professionally-produced-videos/commercials-with-stock-footage/) There must be better examples.

I'm believe this ad uses some stock clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6acc4y4MFdU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6acc4y4MFdU)

Yes, most definitely. Thank you!!

Also found some other examples meanwhile. This one is actually pretty nice:
https://vimeo.com/108787841 (https://vimeo.com/108787841)

And then there is this bonbon: one of Trump's campaigns apparently is using stock footage models for testimonials:

But still I would love to know, has anyone spotted their own footage in a commercial on the internet or TV?

I've never spotted any of my clips in the real-world, unfortunately.

However, I'm convinced that the intro the House of Cards series with the D.C timelapses is sourced from stock clips:

@georgep7: Thanks a lot, already started to browse through it. Nice! This helps. I guess ;)

Sb wrote there that they'd google their thumbnails to see if their footage has been used somewhere. Anyone doing here this? I've tried with my one-clip-success but couldn't find it nowhere.

Nope. Usually high budget movies or series will not touch stock unless there is no other option left for a number of reasons. House of Cards did commission this job to photographer Alexandros Maragos. You can read more about how and why at:

Offtopic. (Sorry @Brasilnut :)  )
Alexandros Maragos also made the beautiful "City Of Athens, a portrait of a changing metropolis" timelapse.

I catch my stuff on TV all the time.  I even have a clip in the opening of HBO's Succession show.

In fact, seeing my NYC clips that were used in the Netflix Pee Wee Herman movie was what convinced me to shoot all my stock at 4096x2160 24fps.

Brasilnut, if the Alamy incorrect was re-billed, shouldn't that update at a new rate or did that mean, nothing changed except the reference to how it was licensed and you got no additional payment?

Thanks for the detailed stats.

I've followed up with Alamy and waiting to hear back. At the moment nothing has changed.

There should be a refund of the original sale, followed by a re-purchase with new license terms. Will update the blog post accordingly when this happens, hopefully soon.

That's my guess, I've had some of those, a refund and new license. BTW always lower, but they do make adjustments.  :)

Just received a quick reply from Alamy after following up and turns out that instead of them refunding and issuing a new license, they just updated the records for the original purchase with new terms with a difference of $35 gross on the upside. :)

I would urge everybody here to check up on their Personal Usage licenses for "mistakes".

I've written my August report now - not great, but I guess it is still the summer doldrums:
