Thank you for sharing your graph. I'm hoping September will get back to normal ...

I agree with Steve and his graph.  Historically summer is always terrible for sales.  This summer is no exception.  In fact a bit worse than most.  My July was the worst since my first year in stock when I had around 300 photos.  Now over 6k photos and similar earnings. August is on trend to be bad also.

If past norms hold, I will look forward to an increase in Sept.

Congrats to the guys having a good month!

Shutterstock continues to flush itself down the pan  :'(

I made $4 yesterday (a Friday) with almost 5,000 assets. I wrote them and asked what was going on and their response was so much BS it was clear to me they were hiding something.  They said that the only thing they did was add a "more from this author" feature to the search.  If that isn't block and tackle I don't know what is. Sales are honestly pathetic.

Have you stopped submitting to them or plan to? I'm still uploading to SS (low cost / low effort images) but much less and focusing instead on editorials at Alamy.

the all micro stock industry is puff..dreasmtime sthe worst...ss is falling down, ok is summer but anything sells...i hope they eliminate popular search cause it makes those who sold in 2006 still earning a lot compared to new files uploaded....i hope is summer but i doubt. there is a flow of images not only in micro but even from a lot of free sites who give full size great images free to anybody for any use. luckily micro account for 30 % of my business...and i can wait till all those agency bust and a new format appear who will take care of eliminate all those amateur who upload 10000 tomato images in 2017.

My BME clocked at 700 dollar. My other Augusts were around the 400-500 dollar all the way back to 2013. For this August I have not reached pay out yet, I am at 91 dollar at the moment and I have had only one day over 10 dollar this month, in fact it was 11 dollar. The decline on Shutterstock is coming hard and fast. This with 3,110 files. I have not added much files lately because I have been quite busy since we had the twins.

So there you have it.

Did anything happen to Fotolia this past week? I mean in addition to "It's August"?
They were good the whole summer for me, doing better than SS at certain periods and then suddenly silence :(

To put it mildly!  worthless August. Biggest drop is SS. Adobe absolute crap since everything is geared towards lower end contributors.

"Adobe absolute crap since everything is geared towards lower end contributors."  How so?

I think the silence is everywhere this month. July was not so bad but August... Every summer is the same song but this one the song is bad.

Don't expect sales to be very high today. People are outside watching the eclipse. I walk into work with 15 people staring at the sun. I'm sure this is happening across the country this morning.

SS for me this month, it's average. Fotolia 3 months ago only fallen for me ..
Pond5 has gone well this month.

The whole month of July and August has been sheite, but since the 25th I am getting ELs and reasonable SODs again. I think their search changes to share the wealth have become fewer than before where I could see changes about every 2 weeks. That always kept my earning relatively the same. Lately the dips are much longer.

Still looking about the same as last year for me... little bit low in June, big dip in July and August about the same as June. September I was back to 'full power' so hopefully it will be the same.

Me too.

Just got an email from Alamy that two of my pics of Rotterdam will be licensed to a distributor to used on greeting cards. I hope it's a big circulation which may make up for the low distribution %

Wow, congrats.
Whenever I've had one of these contacts from Alamy asking me to confirm that an image hasn't sold already for a particular use, I never hear back; and others have said the same.
It's nice to see that sometimes the sale does actually go through.

Alamy: We just heard back from our distributor.
Sorry that they no longer need these 2 images.

Last time I get my hopes up when it comes to this silly game  :P
