Title: Average Hours per week 996 Culture
Post by: For Real on August 27, 2021, 14:07
Hey Folks,

I wonder if many work the 996 (9am to 9pm 6 days a week) culture for our business? I tend to put in 40 hours plus a week myself...

When I was getting established I was doing basically nothing but work. 80-100 hour weeks would not have been unusual for a good few years. Now I do nearer 50-60 hours I guess (8 to 5 six days a week?). Yeah, not good or healthy, hope my kids (and yours) don't have to do the same to provide a middle class income.

the great thing about having your own business is you only need to work half time - and you get to choose which 12 hrs/day!

Years ago I read a story where someone complained about working 12 hours day at Microsoft. Bill Gates overheard them and told them that is a half day schedule!

That sounds pretty accurate to me, from what I've heard of B.G.  It's a safe bet that he didn't get to be one of the richest people in the world by taking afternoon naps.
