I was wondering if someone can help me figuring out how the timing works in posting vector art especially on SS.
First what is the best time to start posting art for holidays. So if Christmas is in 25 dec. i was thinking starting from 20/25 nov . Is this ok or is too soon.
Is there an accepted formula for all holidays or all have their timings?
I m fairly new at this and i appreciate any help. Thank you!

I'm not doing seasonal work but here is my understanding. Printed advertisements for Christmas get printed in October and November (sometimes even as early as September). Images for such use need to be selected for layout at least 3 months before Christmas and well before printing dates. So your work needs to be available at least 3, and likely 6, months before the use date (Christmas).

never try to guess seasonal results - I just upl, as soon as I can get metadata entered & let god sort 'em out....
SS: 4th best month for 2016, continuing incremental increase over previous yr; accepted images for oct +15% mostly based on sep river cruise pix
just started to re-submit to fotolia: 500 images --> 4000+ last month and sales growing, so positive results there; Oct beating most other sites with many more images. plus many images re-processed for lighting issues and getting accepted by SS and others (thanks to PS batch routines!)

Yes it seamed i m to late for this Christmas. The thing is that i mostly upload general stuff. I was thinking that my port wold benefit from some seasonal work but i do not know if its wort it. And the thing is that the timing must be perfect to make a decent revenue . So i guess is Valentine day time now ? xd

Sadly I think SS got rid of the actually useful tool that would show a graph of search terms over the year - as I recall there was a big spike for Christmas in November up to just a few days before the 25th. I think with web advertising the 6 month lead time no longer holds true. I do recall selling Christmas pics just a few days after the holiday though.

That tool was the best most innovative contributor tool on any site.

In my personal opinion, 8-12 weeks prior to the holiday is ideal. If you have Christmas content you are holding on to, I would recommend uploading and submitting it today.

I'd say you are right. But also well in advance and like Mat and others, as soon as they are redy, doesn't matter. You can't outguess buyers needs.
My question is why would somebody care much about Christmas images? Christmas Stock Photos, Illustrations, and Vector Art (4,101,970) 4 million to pick from and some new similar is going to get how much attention or how many sales? Better be unique.
