It's good to see smiles again  :)

Maybe we we should have a compulsory fun thread to keep some balance around here.  (Compulsory fun?  That sounds a bit authoritarian... but you know I mean).

Oh come on, a bit of Scotch is good for the blood, circulation and everything, cleans the veins and keeps you healthy ( not too much though) a word of caution here! the stock-business is enough to turn anyone into a boozer, so steady on. ;)

And since someone brought him up, my favorite Oscar Wilde quote - "Everything in moderation, including moderation!"

yep thats a classic!  but the best repy I have ever heard was by Winston Churchill.

he bumped into an old female politician at the house of lords and he was drunk as always. She said to him. Winston!  your drunk! Churchill stared at her and replied " yes madam, Im drunk and you are ugly, but I, will be sober in the morning.

Favorite Oscar-Wilde:  I have nothing to declare, exept my genious.  and,  Bigamy is having one wife too many, monogamy, is the same.

Ah yes, I love that Churchill quote.  So funny.

My favourite Wilde quote:
"I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train."

My favourite quote from his works:
"...when her third husband died, her hair turned quite gold from grief."

I gave up drinking years ago too. I know how nice it can be. Sometimes if I go out with friends who drink, as much as I remember the pleasure of being drunk, being sober with those who are drunk is often far from boring. This truth serum can make for a fascinating night out if you're sober. Inevitably though it gets a bit much, but I still have the pleasure of being able to drive myself home.  :)

Well I dont think we mean sitting there getting zozzled every night, you know. Personally I am just reffering to a social drink now and then. A "drinker" often means getting pissed every week or something, at least myself dont fall into that category,  in fact I think the last time I actually had too much, jeez, must be something like 10 years ago.

Indeed, having 2-3 beers from time to time is nice, just enough to cut the edge off and feel nice. In a good company of course. I never drink at home, for instance.

Ha.
I recently filled in an online health survey, diet, smoking, exercise, alcohol, the usual stuff.
In 'alcohol' they asked 'how often do you drink alcohol' and I put, truthfully, 'one or twice every three months' (from a dropdown of choices)
and 'how much do you drink at a time' and I chose 'one to three units of alcohol'. Because sometimes I have a glass or two of wine if I'm out for a meal with family or friends  though usually I have soft drinks as I'm driving.
Bizarrely at the end of the survey, the results virtually ignored the fact that I live on chocolate, am very lucky if I get 3 of my 'five a day' and only exercise (other than gentle-paced birding walks, which don't count) once a week, and decided I was a problem drinker and referred me to all manner of sources of help to drink less.
Honestly, although I do occasionally drink alcohol, if it was for some reason impossible, I wouldn't be up nor down. I have bottles of wine in the house gathering dust that do when I need to supply a raffle prize or similar at short notice. I never get tempted to open one. Yet if my husband (very rarely) wants to have a bar of chocolate for later consumption, I have to ask him to hide it.
I can only imagine that I count as a 'binge drinker' and if I was having 1-3 units of alcohol one or twice a week, that would have been OK.

LOL!  I know exactly what you mean.  I love to go out with friends who are drinking.  I can let my hair down and be myself.  Most people need about three drinks to achieve the level of goofy that I am naturally ;D

Yeah, agreeing!  f###ing boooooring, isnt it?  not to mention walking in and out of health stores buying Roots to "think you feel better, look better" not to mention drinking russian yoghurts to imagine you live to 150, not to mention driving around on electricity just to get a shock up your ass, not to mention saving the rain-forest only to find some forest workers have cut down the few trees you had around your own home, not to mention quit smoking only to chew nikotin gum until your hooked on that, not to mention, going to church every Sunday, praying for your kids and family, only to find God is crapping even more on you.

finally, what happens? then YOU DIE!  good hey?

Moral of the story? get yourself up on the highest peak in the world, get your thingy out and SCREW the world ;D ;D ;D
