I am about to bag this Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Zoom Lens - U.S.A. Warranty + Mack 3 Year Extended Warranty (world wide cover).

But before I click pay with PayPal I want to check one last time if there would any objection to get this lens from Adorama (USA) and ship it to Europe, Ireland to use it here in Europe?

Its not grey market, 3 year warranty and it seems Adorama is very established.

Any objections, if not, I am going to bag this thing !!!! I am super excited.

I don`t know how the laws are with the customs in Ireland, but usually you would have to pay additional taxes when shipping from the outside of the EU to a EU country if they catch your package in the customs. Better check some experiences on the net upfront before getting some bad surprises...

Thanks guys, I completely forgot about that.  That puts a big damper on the excitement but none the less it saved me from a big surprise. Maybe I can send it to a friend and then have it shipped to me as a gift. Or check if I can find the same deal in the UK.

Additionally it's only got a USA warranty, and with my experience of Canon pro gear over the past 2 years, I wouldn't take the risk is save a few Euro.  To save a few hundred I might, but you'll have to work out how much customs you could be hit for and how much you can find it in Europe for and see what you think.

Alternatively, treat yourself to a trip to New York and buy it there.  It could still come in cheaper than paying import duties....   ;)

sure you don't want to hold off for the next one that has IS? I am waiting for that one since I use my original 24-70 2.8 a lot.

I know Luis, did you read the rest of the site? Their T&C seems pretty straight forward and honest. They offer warranty, 2 day shipping and will refund all duty if it may occur.

it does look legit to me too but they are based in HK, Canon must have tons of lens done there so believe you are ok

Don't forget that you'll be offsetting the cost of the lens as a business expense (assuming that you are declaring your microstock earnings). I don't know what the tax rates are in Ireland but in the UK about one third of the cost is 'saved' through paying less tax. If you ever have to show receipts to a tax inspector you won't want to provide evidence that you avoided VAT/duty.

I've considered buying stuff from the USA before (one of my oldest buddies lives there and visits the UK at least twice a year) but, by the time you've taken tax-deductible expenses into account, it's actually cheaper buying it in the UK.

Thanks Gostwyck, I am going to declare my MS earnings with the Irish tax man. So I can deduct the lens from my income.

I found the lens in the UK, the guys replied to me really quick,

Hi,

Thank you very much for your email.

Please do not worry about any import charges, as all prices shown on our website include Free Delivery and VAT Free guarantee, meaning we will reimburse import charges in full if incurred, i.e., the prices you see on our website are all you have to pay.

The extended warranty is an international cover, meaning you can have your equipment repaired in Europe.

It usually takes around 2 working days door-to-door.

Thank you.

Regards,
Onestop Digital
