Title: Canstock no view/sales
Post by: swellphotography UK on January 26, 2012, 15:59
Hi,

I've had around 150 images on canstock for a few months now and I've had hardly any view and no sales. I have the same collection across other sites and have seen sales and good views on them.

Wondering if anyone finds them to be slow, or maybe its just my images? This is my portfolio with them https://www.canstockphoto.com/swellphotography (https://www.canstockphoto.com/swellphotography)

I have posted this before a few months back but the consistent lack of views has got me stumped.

Cheers,

Terry

I'm slowly coming to understand that the sites aren't all selling to the same buyers, and that photos may sell on one site but not others.  I have about 200 images - I get a few sales every day on SS, occasional sales on DT.   I used to get sales on IS until they killed the non-exclusives.   I saw everyone posting about their success on PD, so  I recently put my photos on PD and have gotten exactly 1 sale in 6 weeks.    Who knows.

FYI: 1065 online at CanStockPhoto, on average 10 sales per month with now and then an EL of 24$+. Views are low but I wonder how they count them. For instance they might filter random and Google traffic that could inflate view count on other sites. One thing is true and that is that CanStockPhoto sells totally different pictures than other sites. Like stockastic said before, they probably cater for a different kind of customers.

They seem to be slow for everybody, and certainly for me. But it's so easy to upload and attribute releases, and Duncan has always been such a nice guy that it doesn't matter timewise. CanStockPhoto is drama-free and has always been on the forefront programming-wise. Did anybody notice their series-editor (with a blanket image for the series) that could be a fundamental solution for DT's similars problem?

If this is an invitation for some portfolio critique of your images, I would consider that only 1/3 is really stock material (the glass for instance). Landscapes and cobblestone backgrounds hardly sell anywhere in stock, unless they are stunning and iconic.

I'm holding my uploads to them.
I'm not looking for online storage space, I'm looking for sales ;)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just in the process of systematically uploading and working through subjects etc. From doing this I'm starting to learn what makes a good microstock image. Still a long way to go though.

When you figure that out please post :-)
