Hello,
I found on fotolia a user called "designsoliman" who copy a lot of image (with all the details)
So be careful and check if he not copy your work : https://www.fotolia.com/p/203699048 (https://www.fotolia.com/p/203699048)
I made a screenshot for see the difference bewteen the original and his copy:
I hope fotolia will ban him soon (apparently shutterstock already did)
-
Adobe should close his account
-
i hope,
If someone can write to them, it will be cool
-
Hard for me to understand why someone with those vector skills would copy others so exact instead of doing his own vision of concepts.
-
You wonder when someone is that good at copying a work, why dont they create from their own imagination?

They aren't vectors

Yeah, I do. Obviously they got skills. At least if they can't come up with their own ideas, they should make it different enough to not violate copyright and get tossed off the site.

They are small on my tablet. If not vectors, they are some kind of drawing, right?

This is 3d stuff

Wow, I can forgive when it's a similar concept, but there is no arguing that they copied here

Yes, in this case, we can talk about counterfeit images.
-

It took me a few seconds to realise they weren't the the exact same images. I can't image the lack of scruples it takes to spend the time setting up exact copies like that

Remove this rat thief already fotolia...

On a not unrelated note, no comment just a couple of links:

One of the best selling set of Christmas images on Fotolia for a number of years:

To get the full effect take a close look at the legs on the reindeer and the head if rotated to line up exactly. Hmmmmm.

I'd guess the iStock one is older it's file number 10 million and the fotolia one is file number 27 million, just a guess but the iStock one is from 2009 too.

Definitely the IStock one is older, it's by a very talented and well known illustrator. I was just mulling over what it says about Fotolia that those files have been there all these years selling in their hundreds. I guess maybe don't hold your breath.
-
Fotolia file number of 27 million means it was uploaded around November 2010 to FT (so yes, the Istock version was uploaded earlier).
-
an other screenshot and apparently he really like copy
now we can play to the seven mistakes game :)

Another person with technical skills and no imagination . . . . .
-
He has good 3d skills and his renders are nice but another copycat with no creativity and imagination.
-
Copying a concept is something we see a lot of and is probably just part of the business.
Copying virtually every aspect of the staging and setup as well as the concept is plagiarism - even though they are different files in the most technical sense - and the copycat's account should be closed. It's just wrong, and with so many blatant examples, it's not an accident.
Does anyone know any of the creators of originals to send e-mails to? I would hope with complaints from the copyright owner there might be a response from the agencies (I assume this work is other places too?). As long as the copies sell, the agency may not have any real incentive to act - it doesn't hurt them. But the copyright owner could send a DMCA takedown notice for the copy.

What exactly were your intentions by copying someone else's work?
How do you think it will affect their sales and what makes you think those people do not rely on this income to put food on the table?
How long do you think they have worked their butt off creating those portfolios, come up with new concepts, etc...?
This business is already as bad as it can get because of those greedy agencies, on top of that people lose sales every day because of competition but that is of no importance?
If you're smart and talented enough to create a portfolio like that you already know the answers to the above.
And now you expect forgiveness and pity?
You haven't stolen from me but we are all in this together and the only people I feel sorry for are those who's work have been copied.
Copy concepts and put your own twist to it, sure, we all do but copying to the pixel? a big NO

You are damned lucky to have got away with this for so long. Be grateful for how long your thievery has fed your family rather than moan that it won't any more.

The authors you copied also have their families!
What were you thinking? You must have spent hours and hours creating those objects and then you didnt spend a minute on changing at least colors or composition? Why did you make almost exact copies? It doesnt make sense. Nevermind, Im glad your accounts were closed.
-
You want sympathy because you took food out of other peoples mouths to fill your own?
Really?

Another person with technical skills and no imagination . . . . .
I don't think it is about no having imagination, more about stealing the images or the vector by downloading them for free from Russians or Chinese websites (that are already stealing them from Istock, Shutterstock, etc) and just trying the luck with selling them on Fotolia. If it's working, until Fotolia close his account, he has been already taken one or more payments. My guess is that he or she has just a few knowledge of graphic, just enough to modify a little bit the layers.
After that, he can make another account with his mother, sisters, brothers, etc names and do it again, because it doesn't cost him too much effort.

The guy who had his accounts closed was copying 3D concepts, setting up scenes as similar as possible and rendering his own "version", but not uploading the same work.
Ironically the guy who I would suspect is actually doing what you say is still on Fotolia. If I had the time/ inclination I would buy his files and the IStock ones and line up the points on the vector paths. In my opinion I think they would match up exactly.

If you are quick and really sorry maybe you could take down every file too closely inspired by other people's work on from the sites you are still on (like 123RF), then they may not shut down your account.

Hi,
First, artists you have copied need to eat too.
Secondly, you work is consider as forgery and can be punishable by law, so be lucky to have just your account delete and not a possible lawsuit.

Terms and conditions aside, why would you even think this would be allowed? You got what you deserved, end of story.
-
Solliman says his work if from 2008
the other files he supposedly copied were uploaded 2009 / 2010.
Or am I missing something now?

Maybe the other sentence where he fully admits what he was doing (and claims pure ignorance as an accuse):
"first of all i want to say sorry to you all and all authors that i have copied there work :'( but i want you to know that i didn't read terms and conditions carefully"
If he started doing that in 2008 that does say nothing about what he did in 2009 / 2010 and later...
While I'm not personally affected (only photos for me) I have not much sympathy for such behavior.
-
He probably started in 2008, saw it was a good gig, and continued
Good thing he was caught otherwise he moght have graduated to robbing banks
-
Interesting but strange story. I do 3D CG using Max and other software. Making images which are so similar - almost exact copies - from scratch would not be easy. It would actually be easier to make versions which are more dissimilar. It's nothing like, say, tracing a drawing. This whole thing leaves me rather puzzled and saddened. It could have been avoided so easily.
-
That seems like so much work in all reality ... Setting up the scene and recreating the objects nearly exactly like that ... I mean, I think for most logical people if they see a concept that they like or think will sell well, they try to illustrate it their own way.
I mean, I think most people still will drag reference files onto their desktop and get a feel for what they're trying to create but, to flat out sit and copy every detail like that seems very time consuming.
You get what you deserve bro. That's flat out theft.

Apparently, he doesn't seem really sorry ....
All copy images from the other microstock are still online
-
At least he chose to come in to the forums and face the music. That takes some brass ones for sure.

Here is another user that seems to be copying designs...
Here are two examples that I noticed...
1. Original file (it was uploaded much earlier) :
https://us.fotolia.com/id/54879637
bf87's updated copy of the gray "FREE SHIPPING" truck and the orange, green and blue badges:
https://us.fotolia.com/id/78855163
2. Mike McDonald's original file:
https://us.fotolia.com/id/49625393
bf87's updated copy of the yellow "Special Discount" badge:
https://us.fotolia.com/id/79524713
I don't know whether bf87 just copied the older designs or perhaps he actually downloaded the vector source files and updated and re-uploaded them, but it cannot be a coincidence, because there are too many similarities in the design (the text, the fonts, the shapes and colors).
He has also uploaded the same files to several other popular stock image sites.

-
the truck one is not the same
ETA actually neither is the shield. He could be copying but doesn't look like he has stolen the work. Don't expect the agency to do anything about it, even if we think it is immoral it probably doesn't cross the line into breaking the agencies rules.
-
....especially when you consider things like this, which I posted ages ago, where to me the work looks clearly made from the same file and they still don't act:
