Title: Changing address - IRS and ITIN
Post by: total on July 12, 2019, 10:36
Hello,
I am from Europe and I have ITIN number for 0% witholding rate.
Now I am moving to another place (different town, same country).
I found that I need to fill a form 8822 for IRS, but I am not sure where to send it. Does someone know where to send it? :)
Thanks in advance

There's an address on the bottom of the actual form. Although I'd assume you just need to file an updated W8 with the relevant agencies rather than filling that out. I could be wrong.

yes, I agree/think simply updating the form on the relevant agencies might be easiest...

I think the Form 8822 is only for US residents. If you normally submit W-8BEN forms for agencies, the only way to change details is to phone the IRS in business hours. I've done this a couple of times and the International Taxpayer Service Call Center are very helpful. Ring +1 267-941-1000 and they should sort you out. Waiting times are very short.

If you just submit a new W-8BEN to an agency with your new address it will be rejected if it doesn't match IRS records.

HTH,
Colin
