I found two or three posts on this forum about this site, and just wondering if anyone else is posting there.

They seem to be more current event and topical than the other "beautiful business woman in bikini bottom on the beach with cell phone" sites.   And they seem to frequently send out emails with current assignments on them from magazines, periodicals, and newspapers.

Any feedback?

I have a few images there.  Sold one so far (US$20, I got half of that).  There is no minimum payout, so the US$10 went straight to my Paypal account.

Once they contacted me about a client looking for images of Brazil.  I sent many small versions (I had to scan slides and I would not have time to edit all of them for final use), but unfortunately the client didn't buy any (that was before they created the assigment area).  I liked this kind of direct contact.  This would be a RM deal.

One good thing is that they take editorial images and if you have some breakings news image you can even send a cell phone image.  I believe those would be RM, not RF, but I'm not sure about the price structure in this case.  In my case this is less attractive to me, because unless I photograph something really important, I don't think they have a market for news from Brazil.

I have over 200 RM images available through them - all editorial.  Some were uploaded as timely news events, others are non-newsworthy editorial images.

I haven't had a single sale yet since October but they are going through some changes.  Their creative director changed hands in October or November.  The staff there is also very helpful and very eager to push images (at least when I've dealt with them about newsworthy images).

One thing I noticed about Citizen Image is that they want exclusivity for editorial images for a period of 3 years.  Since shutterstock also has an editorial section, I dont know if its worth it unless they really bring in sales.

Hmm, do they?  Isn't that only for the newsworthy images?

Perhaps, I am wrong.... but I went on their website last night and read the agreement.  They have a creative section (non exclusive two year commitment) and editorial (exclusive three year commitment).  Thats how Ive read it.

Roman,

I went check it's 3 months:

Exclusives - we require a 3 month exclusive for newsworthy editorial images.

But then I understand "newsworthy editorial images" do not apply to any RM image.  I'll even ask them, I'm curious now.

Adelaide

Ok, here's their reply - they're quick!

Hi Maria,

The three month exclusive is for major breaking news only. The real issue is that if we get into an exclusive conversation with a buyer and the images are out there on 6 other sites, we cannot guarantee that we can offer them an exclusive on your behalf.

Adelaide

If you read the contributor agreement as well, you'll note that you are not required to stay with the agency for any period of time.  You can choose to leave anytime you want.

Thanks for clearing it up.  I think I will give them a try and see what happens.
