I hear a lot of people saying that you should stick with Adobe and let Shutterstock and Istock for dead. Because at Adobe you are getting 33, 66, 99 versus the 10 cent at Shutterstock or even less at Istock sometimes.
Everybody knows that it is hard to get a big figure at Adobe which you do get occassionally with SS and IS.
So that got me thinking about the clients that these agencies should have.
If you get a lot of 66 or 99 sales from Adobe it means that the clients are small and have a small package. Otherwise they were not paying the 66 or 99. If you get a lot of ten cents at SS it means the client is big with lots of downloads to make each month.
So apparently Adobe is phishing in the (very) small business pond and IS and SS are fishing in the big ocean, having therefore big clients that sometimes will throw you a big commission because they have to when using your photo/video for their large audience but mostly peanuts.
So I actually think, there is a big difference in the clientele between the companies and it would not be wise to focus just on one company because they just offer you a minimum commission higher then another. Nor the other way around.
It's just different clients.
