Can anyone identify if any of the top 9 sites remove my clipping paths? I include the term in my titles and descriptions, because I know designers are more apt to choose a photo that is less work for them to isolate. I've read that SS used to remove them, but now includes them.

I don't want to claim my photos have one, if the stock site removes it.

At DT at least, (don't know about the others), the path does not travel with the up- and down-sized versions of the jpgs. It only stays with the original. The buyer will not know that if they rely solely on the keywords or description. I know because I purchased an image with clipping path in the description that did not have it in the size I purchased. I sent an email to support and they confirmed this. As a contributor I have (not often) uploaded an .eps with a clipping path as an additional format and put the path info in the description of those images only.

hmm good to know that. Anyway a clipping path for isolated photos is often useless since it simplifies the edges, whereas a channel based mask can take a few minutes and be much more accurate. I do not fry my brain tracing clkipping paths for my isolated photos for that reason.
Anyway not keeping the path in the downsized versions of the files is something that really sucks, I would be mad as a buyer.

Clipping paths come in handy when using images for print in programs like Quark and InDesign (for runarounds, overlaps and for placing on colored/patterned backgrounds). So, from a purely technical/process standpoint, in many cases I buy images for which I need the paths. If they don't have them to start out with, I have to add them.

Regarding that you are editor at Dreamstime, you should consider adding that notice somewhere on site in FAQ or similar... That way all buyers and contributors will know for it ;-)

Either that, or offer to provide a layered psd/tiff if the largest possible size is purchased.

Out of interest does anybody know why they can't include a clipping path in anything other than original size, not just picking on DT it's the same for most sites, but when you resize a shot in PS the clipping path is retained why not on the sites?

It's an easy guess that they don't use PS to resize - maybe one of the fractal up/downsizers works better?

Correct about the simplification. On punk hair of a model, it might be a disaster. What do you mean by channel mask exactly and care to explain your workflow? Do you mean the alpha-channel (transparency)? How do you go from isolated in cam to alpha-channel and more important, is that accepted by the sites?
