My beautiful collection of face masks, vaccine vials and restriction signs is getting less and less sales. What to shoot now? What's your idea of shooting something for the current news market?

Climate change. Protecting our ecosystems. Less reliance on fossil fuels. Governments not doing enough, or fast enough.

If you're still not convinced about climate change, or to get more info, read up on Thwaites Glacier, or latest UN report on climate change 2022.

Annie, the question is not convinced or not, but would it be sold. There are already 361,431 climate change stock photos.

Hi Unamas

That's not enough - compare to 4+ million photos of tomatoes. ;)

But seriously, I looked and out of those 361k, there's 229k wind farms. But there's a lot more aspects to this than just wind farms.  From the latest hot debates about production of beef (methane) to a whole range of other things. Plus its very topical now with Russian Oil issues.

How about foreign collusion? Lots of that going around too besides the war.

Its also really annoying too. You try to make a valid honest comment in Twitter and someone comes in and calls it a "witch hunt" from China. I mean come on, we all know the truth. Who are you fooling?  ??? :P

Covid is not over. It has been decided that Covid is over.
The current Omikron is "more harmless" but very infective, still many dies.
Politicians are used to negotiate and make agreements. They will find that they can't negotiate or make agreements with a virus.
Covid will be back with a not so harmless version.

Exactly. Covid is over only as a newsworthy (photographic) theme because ordinary people and politicians and journalists are tired of it, but as a disease it's not.

This is a very dangerous time, because when people stop feeling the danger, they stop using precautions (vaccination, masks, social distancing) and new variants may soon emerge.

A significant percentage of people in the western countries and Asia is still not vaccinated; and especially most people in Africa are not vaccinated. Time to give them free vaccines. It's not charity, it's in our own interest as well.

Actually I don't even think Omicron is as harmess as some people make it out to be. I have stopped paying so much attention to infection or even hospitalization numbers, but look at death cases in various countries each day. Here in daily Germany death cases are on the rise, already surpassing the numbers of the original first wave. Considering we have vaccine and the variant is more harmless than the original one, that's not looking too peachy? People just have gotten "used to it". Like "Yeah, hundreds of peole die from Corona in our country every day, so what?"  :'(   It has lost its horror.  And then, of course, the war is a much more pressing matter right now. In the past I could open any random German news site each day and find all the new Corona numbers there - hospitalizatins, death cases, infection rates. Now I have to look them up on official sites each day, because hardly any news site reports them anymore. But just because news sites aren't reporting much about Covid anymore doesn't mean it is over. And the future, with the possibility of new and more servere variants emerging, is still a big unknown.

What is Transhumanism?

Oh, no. You're right. I just checked and there's only 310 transhumanism stock photos. Lots of room to move.  ::)

I guess I started this with my climate change and beef methane gas thing. How about I change mine to just plain old St Patricks Day or Easter, or something a bit more earth bound.

Since, at least as far as mainstream and new media, global information, social media, and the like are concerned, an incredible danger is creeping up, but increasingly so, I would suggest topics such as

- conspiracy theories
- fake news

and their impact on democracy and other political and social development.

As far as the way people and algorithms deal with information via various media channels is concerned, the third world war has actually already begun.

I'll just stick to what I like to shoot but if you wan't to be in the moment, in the countries that will buy and are allowed to buy your pictures, I would say: high prices, gasoline, whatever energy, wheat, taxes and then especially around Europe: big liquid gas sales from US to Europe, nucleair power reinvented in Europe, natural gas exploitation, reused, in Europe (especially in the Netherlands), coal mines restarted (in Germany), new refugees (and how their homophobic culture does not fit into their welcoming countries).

Lots of things, many oppurtinities.

Well said, Wilm. Especially the impact on democracy.

There is a trail, isn't there?  Going back to 2016. Trump before receiving the Republican nomination for president, criticizing NATO: "that the alliance no longer serves its founding purpose and that it is too costly to the U.S".  Cambridge Analytica's, with its ties to Russia, use of Facebook data to influence elections (Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Brexit vote). 2019. Trump threatening to withhold military aid to Ukraine. 2021, Jan 6 insurrection. Murdoch's (another close friend of Putin) media. QAnon. (Some reports say, that Q is a Russian hack). Unsuspecting, fragile people manipulated into believing & supporting dangerous misinformation.

And now all this.

Anyway, I digress, or maybe that is the topic: Attacks on Democracy.

I have to admit, I eat all kinds of food and much of it is plant based. Vegetables, grains,  fruits (like tomatoes), legumes, nuts, and others. The other food is animal based and we call it meat around here. So a cheeseburger is the perfect food, because it has meat, grains, lettuce, tomato and of course CHEESE! Naturally, being human and coming from a long line of humans, I'm an omnivore.

Contrary to some invented health fad terms, created to charge more for foods because of marketing and fears... everything is organic because the planet is Carbon based and what the word means really is: The compounds in solid, liquid or gaseous state which contain carbon in its molecule are known as organic compounds.

Now that's natural food and a natural diet?

Transhumanism? Kind of like Pinocchio isn't just a wooden puppet? He can become a real boy, with rebirth through metamorphosis? Or are we going to grow longer noses because of all the lies that are being believed as some kind of alternate reality and truth? My theory is, first humans need to find the blue fairy or some fairy Godmother. Or maybe just go this way? Second on the right, and straight on till morning...

I'm actually in favor of Transhumorism, where people acquire a sense of humor that's different from the current woken, easily offended, closed minded and limited tolerance attitude, by those who want to censor our thoughts through banning words, to match their personal political agendas. When some groups want free speech, they mean only for people who agree with them. Anyone else is shouted down, and shamed into silence.

The microchip implants (and the nanobots that "slit the bloodstream from the inside"), which some people are convinced of, I never understood anyway.

People are afraid of the total surveillance and control by Bill Gates.

Before they go on demonstration, they have paid their drink with credit card or by electronic cash, so that everybody knows what they have bought. Then they got into their car, which transmits their entire movement profile to the manufacturer. In their pockets, they all have their latest-generation smartphone, with which they monitor their sleep, pulse and blood pressure, with which they share all their data with Mark Zuckerberg and make it available to him, through which they have their chats monitored, allow movement profiles, reveal all their habits, have conversations listened in on, etc.
And which, as far as radiation is concerned, is certainly unhealthier than wearing a mask, which is supposedly so harmful to health.

We live in strange times...

We live in strange times...

You left out CCTV cameras that have biometric abilities and facial recognition. Police and others have the computer ability to read license plates and check if the owner is wanted, plus they can look at past history. Lets call it profiling or targeting? Although you mentioned the phone, other devices have GPS enabled. Good point on the Credit Cards, because everything is available in data to follow, track and probably predict when we will be buying our next lunch, and what we will be ordering and what someone is drinking along with that.

Right now my Internet provider knows that I'm online, how good the signal is and who I'm connected to?

UFOs are "unidentified" by definition. It's clearly commercial, not editorial.
If they were identifiable, they'd be called IFOs.

From Elon Musk. The billionaire who also spoke about space travel, colonies on Mars, crypto, artificial intelligence and Covid-19 vaccines said Neuralink is trying to figure out if it can use its chips to get monkeys to play mind Pong with each other.
That would be pretty cool, said Musk, who is CEO of Neuralink, in addition to SpaceX and Tesla.

The so called "lifestyle" photography with lazy drug-addict multi-gender individuals chilling out is so OLD. The next trend is people communicating with machines and robots; maybe we can have microchips inserted also in the brains or our pets? To make them do things, or to communicate with them? To find out what exactly is going on in their minds? (May be more than just "food" and "walk")
Maybe cyber threats and surveillance can be combined with the idea of neuralink in stock photography.
