Did anyone else get this email and what are your thoughts.
I'm a bit sceptical about yet another stock site starting up, they do look quite professional though.

Not from this, but i had several e-mails from other startup platforms during last 3 months.
All of them were very new, some already had websites, some - not yet. All of them requested high res no watermarks photos for profiles/portfolios. One was not happy with smallest allowed size and insisted to delete watermark. Their search for european postcodes returned photographers based in India before the list of photographers related to searched postcode. None of these sites returned with something useful. Wasted time. When several more demands arrived, i stopped to read these e-mails.
Possible there are some good between them, but it is really full time work to check this amount of startups.
Many of them really follow latest mode to move software testing to user. Not happy to see my photos online deformed or super-yellow/super blurred etc. This didn't happen on established sites. Lol. Rarely.

I didn't get anything from them, but I did take a quick look at their site. I find the over-the-top style of wording in that letter pretty off putting and the site has the same feel, but the real area of concern is the licensing.

So they appear to be trying to do single use licenses - $4 for and illustration and $29 for a logo. That means that someone has to enforce that and I can' imagine a new site paying out 90% of what they take in has the resources to do that. Which means that you may very well be effectively selling RF for those prices which seems very low.

In theory, with the "logo" license you have to modify it in some way and then use it for one client. To modify it again for another client you must buy another license. The sales aren't exclusive so I'm not sure how that works in practice - you'll see the same graphic showing up for multiple companies.

One "design" I looked at was a JPEG file (no layers) with a vignetted scene of a beach car and palm tree with the word "Summertime" on the black area at the bottom. Honestly anyone would have been better off with the photo.

There doesn't appear to be much content there, and everyone I looked at was VIP. 90% of zero is....

That email screams unprofessional and the name sounds like a brand of toothpaste.  Why would anyone think twice on this?

That email screams unprofessional and the name sounds like a brand of toothpaste.  Why would anyone think twice on this?

They can't proofread their own messages, offer 90% "deals" right from the start, specialize in nothing.
I think I'll stay away...

Yeah I'll be giving them a wide berth.
Find it strange no one else got the email.
Thanks for everyone's comments. :)

I'm assuming it's an amalgamation of 'Creative' and 'Favourite', although it doesn't really work. Or it could be a combination of creosote and unfavourite. You never know.

I would have gone for "Creative Stock: Online Footage Sales" with an abbrevited domain of crockofs.com

I've also received the email, later that day Creavorite started to follow me on Pinterest and on Google+. I agree with all said, but just for the record, they don't give you 90% straight away. It's "up to" 90%, you start with 65% I think. But yes, the stock photo section is practically empty. ;)
