I saw that some of their pictures come from microstock photographers (some of their names I could recognized  - and definitely not exclusives - are credited)

Is this the IStock deal  referred in the Corbis thread?  Or is this something else?

Hmmm not sure.

non the less i don't think it is the deal that is being discussed in the corbis thread.  I don't think corbis is going to partner with istock because getty allready owns istock.  I think they will partner with a new company or make one of their own.

They apparently have a deal with one of the micros, and may even have the same owner as one of them. Something similar to the one that sells photos from SS on a per picture basis.

Well, here's proof that Istock isn't the only company to goof.  The thread at BS is proof that companies must be very open and honest in their communications with us.  Making deals and then letting them leak out, rather than being forthcoming before the fact, cause undue upset and make us (well, at least it makes me) question the business practices and ethics of the company.

I hope other microstocks will take this to heart.

This subject was brought up in CanStockPhoto (for some reason the person thought the images were from there) and I took it to BigStock forum.  Although they had announced this kind of deal months ago, they hand't said it was already in operation.  According to their terms of license however, they are allowed to do this kind of deal.

On the good side, they promptly added an opt-out option when requested.
