Title: Do you contribute to Depositphotos?
Post by: sdeva on August 15, 2013, 19:25
Its one of the sites that came up fast in the last couple years and seems stably positioned now.  Am planning to contribute content there....

Wondering what the experience is like? Any guidance much appreciated.

I have around 1,000 images with them.  The only thing that's really buggy is the way that you have to edit and process your images after upload.  That part is a bit of a pain.

They are a consistent earner for me.

Not sure... infact I find uploading in depositphotos the easiest one... I do with FTP and its very easy...

I do that just fine as well but it's the choosing categories with how they have that area set up that makes it really easy to accidentally put the wrong things on the wrong images.  I've done that on a few occasions accidentally.

Yes agreed.  They way you select the files and attach releases and categories is sort of touchy.  I did it just the other day and if you don't unhighlight the files one at a time that you just processed, they take whatever you do for the next file and it erases your previous settings. But I am seeing sales creep up a tad each month.  Dang I was getting $40 a month there when I started with 2,200 images now I have 2,700 images and I make $60-$80 a month. I know that's not much but it is a good indication.  I just wish they paid more fairly.

You can also download your own images there. Can be handy in a pinch. Worth contributing just for that.

Really?  I didn't know you could do that there.  I thought 123rf was the only site that allowed that?

Mostphotos too - with the added bonus they don't reject anything ;)

So do fotolia and canstock. Just ask support. However, many companies offer free online storage e.g. dropbox.

I've been using Copy.com.  They start you with 15 GB of storage and give you another 5 GB for referring others.  Much more generous than Dropbox, although they both work very well.  Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you a referral.

Looks like a good one, write to Disorderly for a referral to help him.

This was increased to match Google FREE limits.

You have 15 GB of free storage to share between Google Drive, Gmail, and Google+ Photos. Your storage use is based on which of the following items you’ve stored in these three products:

Gmail: All the messages and attachments in your mail, including those in Spam and Trash.
Drive: Files you’ve stored in Drive, like PDFs, images, and videos. Anything you’ve made with Docs, Sheets, and Slides won’t count towards your storage limit.
Google+ Photos: Only photos over 2048 x 2048 pixels and videos longer than 15 minutes count towards your storage limit.

When you want 30 free GB use Copy.Com and Google?

Back to OP. You can download your own images from DP? Interesting.

Disorderly, I've been reading a lot of your posts on this website and have come to the conclusion that you are one of the most helpful persons on here.  I personally want to thank you for all the advice you've give in these forums.  You're just an outstanding human being.  Cheers to you, my friend  :)

Looking over to the right shocked me....has DP really dropped off the map???For me it's always been a steady earner.....but what sets it apart from the others is that DP sells images that don't sell with other agencies.

It's the beginning of a new month so the poll stats aren't up to date.  I usually wait until the 3rd day of the month to do my paperwork.  I'm sure it'll change over the next week or so.

DP is a steady earner for me, submitting is easy but they sometimes reject batches for: not suitable for commercial use while I did sell similar images with them!
