I've noticed that, often, people who can do a job just get on with it and produce the result. People who can't do it get by with smart clothes, posh cars and stunning conversational skills. The second group seem to be the ones who make most money, especially if they can grab a change of employer and a promotion before getting caught.

So true!  There was an old but very famous club in London, called Ronnie-Scotts, when we went through the entrance, there was this scruffy, I mean really badly dressed couple, scruffy hair, the lot. It turned out to be Mick-Jagger and Jerry Hall,   who would have thought that.
