I did a Google search just now to see if Nikon was still not able to tether with Lightroom CC in OS X El Capitan.

Just looking at the results Google brings up, it seems after 9 months this problem is still not fixed. I'm posting here incase someone knows something different. I'm using OS X that is one generation back to keep the tethering ability with Nikon and lightroom.
I think there will be a new Macbook Pro announced later this year and I think I'll get it because my current laptop is 4 years old. Just wondering in advance if I'll need to downgrade the OS on the new machine.

Sometimes yes - sometimes no-
Works best when the camera battery has a full charge.
edit:
Depending on what Nikon model you use and if you do downgrade
try this free app http://www.sofortbildapp.com (http://www.sofortbildapp.com)
It worked great but not with El Capitan or my d750

I just saw this actually...
"Tethering Nikon cameras is supported in El Capitan as of Lightroom CC 2015.4 and Lightroom 6.4."

Though I would like to continue hearing from others that Nikon cameras do actually tether with Lightroom CC in El Capitan.
