As we can post links for most of our microstock images and footage on social media like twitter, Faceache, pintrest, instagram etc I was wondering if it works for anyone here in boosting sales. For instance, would randomly posting an image of a subject be picked up by a client who is looking for the image with the same keyword ? I have tried myself a tew times but can't really say there is evidence as nobody lets you know. Wha I do get are followers who are doing similar things like photography, music production. Not sure why following an unkown like me will help them.

Works for me. Whenever I have something new I just post under #New. Yes followers help too. Don't just follow like minded followers either cause you never know.  Potential purchasers can have any type of needs.   :)

I do t think so. Buyers will not look for images on social media. And nobody will download a photo just because it is posted on facebook. Stock agencies offer choice and buyers will go directly there. Mirco

consider this, a while back comatosetime dt introduced fb likes ...
proving social media works..

yes, views went up by xxx% but dls never saw anything more than eggs
yes, it works for the agency via ads and traffic, but not for the contributors..

that's why 500px are waffling back and forth whether it really wants to be another flickr or fb
or just another low earners to the right as a microstock agency

and i like to add too, social media will get more of your work tagged and posted there
without you earning a penny.

worse still, like i found on youtube, your work is used as some background , along with the watermark...
eg. some guy had a TV background with 123rf watermark still on it
... with the drama episodes on screen

i guess they must have found it via social media as many of these users have fb too.

Exactly... Buyer will buy at the agency. You have a need and you look for it and not vice versa. When i post on facebook it is just to promote the agencies.

I've heard an early microstock-adopter saying that social media and social network are counter-productive because they seem to change a "ratio" in which your images are viewed LOTS of times and NEVER bought. So this message is "many viewers, no buyers : your images suck".

Of course I don't expect agencies to tell this is true because for them "every visitor = WIN!"

Don't really know. A good place is where images are requested but, another time, I don't expect to be a good move to spam groups, forums of graphic designers and webmasters with "here I am!!!! I have the PERFECT image for you!!!!!" because if everyone of us starts doing this ... it will became a mess :)

(sorry for my English, folks)

Because of posting my work on social media I have gotten thousands of dollars of work from people. So in an indirect way
it does make me money!
