Title: Does stock footage featuring models make more profit?
Post by: Wrighty on April 21, 2019, 03:59
I've been producing stock video for a few years now and I've been generating a bit of extra income to invest in camera gear. Non of my stock footage features people or talent - but I'm starting to consider hiring models to produce more content.

How many of you out there produce stock footage featuring hired models? and do you find those clips sell better (and make more money) than those with no models or people?

I did and I found it hard to cover the costs..but maybe I'm not very good. I think you need to study the market carefully to find what sells.

Yes. Obviously it has to be usefully done, but yes, at least in my experience it is worth it.

But I would try to work with experienced actors, in footage you really see the difference.

Okay, great thanks for the feedback. I might just go for it and see what happens to sales.

Not necessarily.  It's hit or miss with models.  Some sold a lot and others almost no sales.
