Just wondering what the correlation is between the two.  Is Dreamstime more picky or Shutterstock?  I just had some files accepted and some rejected at Dreamstime, so I want to use that as a basis for my Shutterstock submittances - I just removed some of the rejected photos just in case...but I was wondering if there's a strong correlation between the two?

I only have 5 files now online at Shutterstock waiting, so I'm going to assume that they won't look at them until there's 10 (I removed 5 to make sure I am not going to be rejected - precautions)

Thanks

I have more acceptances on dreamtime. In general if it got rejected on dreamtime, then it will get rejected on shutterstock however there are a few exceptions as I think dreamtime rejected a few as having too many "nice scenry shots".

Not sure if that helps but I thihnk you have done the safe thing and only submit shots have haven't been rejected elsewhere. Better to be same with the first lot then dump on them once you are approved.

If you submit to istockphoto they are picker in my opinion and give reason for rejections which whould let youi know if shutterstock will accept.

well i would vote opposite to CJPhoto, but i suppose it really depends on what your images are of.  I feel though, that shutterstock accepts way more images than does Dreamstime.  That being said however, if dreamstime rejected your image, I would not use it as a application photo to shutterstock.  I would pick something else.

Sounds like a good plan then.

One other thing...how do these referrals work for these sites?

Anyone have any good tips on how to remove backgrounds..advanced though, on Photoshop CS2

zoom in to 200%
get the polygon selector tool, and select around the object.. fairly accuratly but not insanely accurate
selection > modify > shrink a couple pixels
selection > modify > smooth a couple pixels
selection > modify > blur a couple pixels
inverse selection
create new layer
paint bucket new layer to white / or black

voila.. you now have a layer that nicely masks what is behind it so you have the full original and a white mask.

One other thing...how do these referrals work for these sites?

if someone clicks on your referral link, a cookie is stored on their computer for 30 days (or so) and when or if they eventually sign up, you will get credit (in different ways, depending on the site)

One last thing...how do you select around a blurry part of an object if there is a blurry part?  Just wondering

I just try and go in the middle of the blur somehwere... or a little bit closer to the subjet.  If they are really blury though you can perhaps just use a paint brush that has a really feathered edge.

Apparently its cool to reject me at Shuttestock based on 4 or 5 images.  I emailed them and asked them to reverse the decision so that I can upload 10 pictures and be judged like everyone else, but it is probably to no avail.  Hopefully they aren't anal about this considering I removed my pictures so that I can put better ones on.

2 of them did make it on, but I don't want to wait 3 months for that.  Thats pretty ridiculous especially since I didn't even have my 10 up yet.
