I have submitted twice a pic of a shrub flowering and both times was refused on grounds that other images online were far superior -I checked and saw only 2  other ones and  definitely not superior to mine! Pics rejected by DT I have had accepted at SS .What is going on here? Are they even checking the pics ? Surely if SS accepts them and DT doesn't what is wrong here???  They are losing money here for sure. Also after many emails to them I have never had one reply yet. I am getting very  fed up .Any one else had these problems?

Yes, I virtually stopped uploading.  It's a time consuming process and it takes a while to get over the stupidity of some of the rejections.

You didn't know? DT has the worst reviewers along with VR and GL. Yes they do check the files but it means nothing as well as ca, noise, artifacts, composition..... The approval or rejection very much depends on weather forecast.
Cheers,

Well I thought I was so silly to wonder why- now I know I will send my pics to SS instead where the rejections are much less even though I started with DT  and feel  quite upset that they are like this.

I am to sure about the comercial viability of your photograph. The brick background makes it difficult to use.

Looks like to me the brick wall on the left side is in better focus than the closed blooms on top and the right side in full of blown highlights when viewed in photoshop.

This photo has issues- strong contrast on right side, border is distracting (right side) plus focus on left side and not on right side.   Flowers are a hard sell so you really have to have a flawless shot and it better stick out to compete again the 2 million out there already...

Here is my acceptance stats- 13 month base thus solid. Sales not great but my acceptance has gotten better over the year. Sales is my next goal- better quality shots that have more commercial value. So I don't agree with DT not accepting images based on my experience.

Im relatively new at this but one thing i've learnt is not to worry too much about "random" rejections it will drive you crazy!! Focus on the income from the site - if its worth the effort to you carry on!

You could improve the composition of that photo.  having the main subject in the middle of the frame will get a rejection from some reviewers.  And its one of the subjects they usually tell us to avoid, as they don't sell much but I still do some flowers.  The one that got to be was a rejection for too many similars but I couldn't find anything like it when I did a two word search.  Then I read about the problems other people were having and they gave us a commission cut.  Don't know why the sites can't understand that demotivating us will cost them money.  Buyers can see almost all my portfolio on SS and they make more money from me than any other site.

I think that rejection is often a nice way of saying that they don't consider the image to be commercial enough.

They might be correct lots of times but quite often their lowly paid inexperienced reviewers get that decision wrong.

Yes of course it isn't always the case but I think that very often it is that people are too attatched to their images and can't see what's wrong with them.

I have no idea what YOUR shrub is - but the proper label should be something like "Ribes Sanguineum King Edward VII or Flowering Currant Shrub".  All of the libraries have a huge number of nature photos.  Unless you label it scientifically and with it's commonly known name it really doesn't stand a hope of being added.

DT has the worst reviewers along with VR and GL..

Don't mistake incompetent reviewers for picky sites. GL is site with lowest acceptance ratio for me but I wouldn't say that their reviewers are bad, they are just more demanding. If you take a look at their site, you won't find crap as on the other sites.
Everyone should place higher demands on himself first and blaming reviewers later.
and to be honest - if I was the one to decide I wouldn't approve OP's snapshot as well - regardless lcv, I don't like composition. And disturbing shadow on the right side, leafs in upper right corner, nail in the wall and probably wire visible under plant should be removed.

OK. Let me change it to "you won't find so much of crap as on the other sites". I don't feel like playing "find reviewers fault"game.

I just went there for the first time, and typed in the first term I always use when looking at a new site: "African Wild Dog". I'm afraid GL is spammed up to the armpits.
I won't count the cartoons, even though nothing in them is remotely like an AWD.
Oh, the reverse of iStock, where illustrations which aren't vectors are 'photos', at GL it's 'vectors' and 'images' (so vectors aren't images? weird).
So I chose 'images' and got a tiny choice of photos. The first four are African Wild Dogs, which I suppose means the search is highlighting the most relevant first. After that, there's a bizarre mixture of hyaenas, squirrels, a jackal and an eared seal or sealion.
So I'm afraid it's pretty poor on keywording standards. NB, hyaenas are in no sense 'dogs', just like squirrels and seals.

iS OTOH has a clean top 200; SS - the top 26 ('popular') are good, after that the next batch is almost totally wrong (an unusually bad result at SS), 'relevant' is better, but there are still a few hyaenas in there.; Dreamstime, 1 hyaena in the first 100, the rest of which are correct)

If I were GL's owner, I'd be working on keywording pronto, before it's too late. In the new micro world, Search is going to be a key differentiator.

There's a Full Moon on the 26th. ??? Submit nothing for two days either side of a full moon, I hear it makes the reviewers strange and illogical.

And let me ask. You just discovered that rejections are often illogical from many agencies and reviewers?  :)

My favorite was from a couple of places saying "these don't sell well" for my best sellers on their sites, when I was adding similar images, just because they sold well.
